Chapter 1223
The secretary remembered her earlier mistake and made sure to make up for it this time.
Tessa, unsuspecting, replied, โMy surnameโs WaltonโTessa Walton. Iโm the eldest daughter of Walton Corporationโs chairwoman, and Iโve just taken over as the new director.โ
As she spoke of her position, her chin lifted unconsciously, pride written all over her face.
Her identity carried weight, and a mere secretary asking her name wasnโt like that arrogant receptionist who hadnโt even bothered. Clearly, this secretary was more sensible.
Hearing Tessaโs status, the secretary felt a flicker of unease. She hadnโt expected the caller to be someone so prominent. If she built a good relationship with her, the road ahead would be even smoother.
โSo youโre Walton Corporationโs heiressโI truly underestimated you before,โ the secretary flattered.
So openly praised, Tessa floated a little higher. With a serious tone, she said, โNot at all. You didnโt know beforeโignorance is no crime.โ
The secretary almost scoffed at that. Ignorance is no crime? Did she even know how to use phrases properly? And reallyโjust one phone call, and she thought of herself as some kind of queen?
โRight, how did that matter I asked you about turn out?โ Tessa asked again.
The secretary hurried to answer, โMiss Walton, donโt worry. Iโve arranged everything for you. Tomorrow, after 10 a.m., Mr. Lewis will be free.โ
Tessaโs heart leapt with joy. โGood, Iโll be there on time.โ
โThatโs settled then. Iโll be waiting at the company for you tomorrow.โ
After hanging up, Tessaโs excitement still wouldnโt settle. If Daniel was willing to meet her, that already meant half the battle was won. Tomorrow, she had to be fully prepared and show Walton Corporationโs utmost sincerity. She was determined to outshine Aurora once and for all. She wanted the old guard in the company, and even her mother, to see that without Aurora, she could still keep the business running as usual.
After hanging up, the secretary returned to the office to report Tessaโs identity to Daniel.
When Daniel learned it was Tessa, his interest stirred. โInterestingโsisters fighting each other?โ
โWhat do you mean, Mr. Lewis?โ the secretary asked in confusion, casually settling herself on his lap and tracing circles across his chest.
Daniel didnโt stop her. He let her do as she pleased, though after their earlier entanglement, he had no strength for another round. He simply allowed her movements.
โIn fact, the two of them are sisters. I had originally arranged this project with the younger one,โ Daniel explained without holding back. After all, she had just won his favor. โBut now that the younger one left the company to start her own studio, it seems the elder sister has stepped up to take her place?โ
The secretary was surprised at that. These upperโcrust family secrets were more entertaining than she imagined. Like two rivals fighting while the bystander reaps the benefit.
Daniel understood the pattern all too well. โDonโt worry. No matter which sister wins the project in the end, the true victor will still be their mother, Madam Grace.โ
Thinking about it, the secretary had to admit it made sense.
