With a pull, the woman straddled him.

She let out a soft gasp but offered no resistance.

The secretary, meanwhile, touched up her makeup in the mirror. Catching Daniel’s gaze, she pretended to look flustered.

“Boss, don’t look at me like that.”

Daniel chuckled. “What’s the matter? Feeling shy now?”

“I’ve always been shy,” she replied, tilting her head coyly.

Now that she had been thoroughly indulged, she no longer thought Daniel was as terrible as everyone claimed. Clearly, the other employees were just jealous of her. The thought only made her happier. From now on, she’d risen above them all. As for those who envied her, they were no concern of hers.

“Boss, let me go inform the people from Walton Corporation first.”

After fixing herself up, she leaned in to plant a soft kiss on his cheek. “Do you want to come over to my place tonight?”

That inviting remark slipped from the secretary’s lips once again.

This time, Daniel didn’t refuse.

He wrapped an arm around her waist, his gaze hooking onto hers. “Of course. With such a warm invitation, why would I turn you down?”

The secretary beamed with satisfaction. It seemed her position in the company was now firmly secured. No more bowing to others–her rise was guaranteed. Joy bubbled up inside her, nearly spilling into laughter. Still, she composed herself, tidied up, and left the office with measured steps, careful not to reveal anything.

But her smug expression didn’t escape the notice of the older employees. Whispers spread quickly–had the secretary already caught the boss‘ favor? Everyone knew the unspoken rules of the industry. No one dared to say it outright, but it was common enough. There were many like her. Yet most relied on their own hard work. Even if someone like the secretary had been pulled up by such rules, flaunting it so brazenly was asking for trouble. The senior staff only shook their heads. She might be smiling now, but her time for tears would come.

Back in her own office, the secretary picked up the phone again to call Tessa. Tessa had been waiting anxiously for the call. The moment her phone rang, she answered instantly, hardly letting it ring once. Seeing how quickly the call was taken, the secretary’s lips curved in a smile. It was clear how much this project meant to her–and that meant the secretary’s own rewards would be just as great.

Tessa spoke eagerly. “Well? What did Mr. Lewis say?”

“Miss, I realized I never asked your name.”
