In her mother’s heart, she was certain Tessa could never complete this task. So, whether this project succeeded or failed, it wouldn’t cause any real loss to the company. Or rather, it wouldn’t affect her standing in her mother’s eyes. Because in her mother’s mind, she had always believed Tessa wasn’t someone capable of accomplishing anything significant.
Thinking of this, Tessa clenched her fists tightly.
“Mom, although I didn’t close the deal, I discovered something.” Tessa looked at her mother with a serious expression.
“What is it? Tell me.” Grace straightened a little. Seeing Tessa so earnest, she couldn’t help but feel curious. After all, no matter what happened before, Tessa had never come to her directly. In the past few days since she handed the project to Tessa, she truly hadn’t held much hope.
The project was indeed important to the company, but now that Aurora had left, if the deal fell through, there was no other choice. She could only let Jason find another project to work with. Besides, her company was far too big to rely on just one piece of land in the southern district.
Tessa’s voice carried a note of grievance. “Mom, these past few days I really did meet with Mr. Lewis. At first, he was interested in our contract, but in the end, for some reason, he suddenly changed his mind. After I pressed him over and over, he finally told me the truth.”
“So what was the reason?” At first Grace wasn’t that curious, but when she heard Tessa say this, her interest grew. After all, who would ever dislike making more money? Originally, this project could have gone through, yet because of other reasons it fell apart. How could she not be angry?
Looking at Tessa’s aggrieved expression, Grace also realized something wasn’t right.
Tessa looked a little hesitant. “But Mom, I’m worried if I say it, it might have a bad effect on her.”
“The project is already lost to our company, what effect are you still worried about?” Grace couldn’t help but scold.
“Alright then, Mom, I’ll tell you.” Tessa looked as if she had made a big decision. “I asked Mr. Lewis why he wasn’t willing to cooperate with our company. After all, our company has a presence in Ravenshore and is quite reputable. At first, he didn’t want to say, but after I begged for a long time, he finally said it was because of my sister.”
“Aurora?” Grace repeated her name in shock.
Under her mother’s astonished gaze, Tessa nodded. “Mom, you’re right, it’s her. Mr. Lewis said he would only work with her, so he told us to find another project. No matter what, this project was discussed with her before, so now he won’t work with Walton Corporation. He only acknowledges her as an individual.”
After saying this, Tessa’s eyes filled with grievance, and her voice even choked. “Mom, why would she treat us this way? We share the same family name, but by doing this, isn’t she betraying our company?”
“Are you sure Mr. Lewis really said that?” Grace narrowed her eyes at Tessa, clearly doubtful of her words. She knew Aurora had always had her own ideas, but nothing like this had ever happened before.
