Tessa looked at her mother in disbelief. “Mom, do you mean you don’t believe what I’m saying?”
“It’s not that I don’t believe you, but Aurora has no reason to do such a thing.”
Tessa’s face showed grievance. “Fine, if that’s the case, then you can ask Mr. Lewis yourself. All of this, he told me personally over the phone. Why would I need to lie to you? There’s no benefit in it for me.”
Seeing Tessa on the verge of tears, Grace felt that what she said made sense. After all, there was no need for Tessa to deceive her about something like this.
Now that Aurora had already left the company, if she truly held the project in her hands and didn’t hand it over to Walton Corporation, it would become a point of criticism among the higher-ups.
“Alright, don’t be upset,” Grace said, rubbing her temples, trying to comfort her. “I understand what you mean, but now that she’s already left the company, I can’t just step in and interfere with her.” No matter what, Aurora had left without taking anything, so Grace had no authority to control her.
But Tessa was unwilling to accept it. “Mom, precisely because she left, yet still holds this project, that’s what’s unfair.”
“What do you mean?” Grace looked at Tessa with growing curiosity.
“Mom, I know you’re still thinking about the bond between mother and daughter, but the way she’s acting shows she doesn’t care about that anymore.”
When Grace stayed silent, Tessa pressed on, throwing more accusations at Aurora. “Besides, the fact is she already left Walton Corporation. Those projects no longer belong to her. So why would Mr. Lewis only want to work with her and not with our company? It must be because she said something to him.”
Anyone with sense could tell Tessa was deliberately sowing discord. But even Grace had to admit, there was a trace of truth in her words. After all, the fact that Daniel was no longer willing to work with Walton Corporation was undeniable.
“So Mom, what I really don’t understand is why my sister would treat our company this way. Even if she cut ties with you, we’re still related by blood, and she still carries the Walton name.” Tessa looked at her mother with feigned confusion.
At first, Grace didn’t think much of it, but when she heard Tessa say this, anger instantly surged up inside her. She stood abruptly. “You’re right.”
“Mom, don’t get so worked up,” Tessa said in a strained voice, as if trying to calm her down.
“From what you’ve said, this really is Aurora’s fault.” Grace gave a cold snort. “You’re right, she’s already left the company. By right, she has no right to take anything from it. What she’s doing now is nothing more than damaging our company’s reputation.”
Seeing that her mother had finally understood, Tessa was genuinely delighted.
“Then Mom, what are you planning to do?” Tessa prodded, guiding her toward the words she wanted to hear.
Grace grabbed her keys, ready to confront Aurora. “What else can I do? Of course, I’m going to see what tricks she’s up to.”
“Mom, don’t be rash, I’ll go with you,” Tessa said with a look of worry. She quickly followed in her mother’s steps, though inwardly she was thrilled. Her goal had finally been achieved.
