Chapter 1280
Hearing her daughter say that, Grace felt a wave of emotion. Since Tessa could finally see things clearly, at least her own painstaking efforts hadn’t been in vain.
“Don’t worry, I’ll get to the bottom of what’s going on with Aurora,” Grace shifted the topic. “But right now, the most important thing is the very survival of Walton Corporation. You must have heard it at the door earlier–the company has been on a downhill slope. If this continues, we’ll be heading straight for bankruptcy.”
Tessa’s heart lurched in shock.
So, Walton Corporation had already started declining–was it really that serious? At first, she had thought Jason was only trying to scare her outside the door. But now, hearing it from Grace, she realized just how grave the situation truly was.
“I understand, Mom. I won’t be reckless like before,” Tessa promised earnestly.
“Good girl. Don’t worry. Once the company gets through this crisis, whatever you want, I’ll make sure you have it.” Grace looked at Tessa with deep seriousness.
Tessa nodded firmly.
“Don’t worry, Mom. I won’t be like I was before. I know the company is in trouble. I was immature before, but I’ll change. I’ll also work harder to secure more projects to bring in revenue for us.”
Inwardly, Tessa thought, her mother was right. With so many people watching them, even the smallest mistake would be seized on immediately. Things couldn’t go on like this. The only thing she could do was improve herself, sharpen her skills, and leave no flaws for others to exploit. That was the only way she could turn things around.
Tessa said goodbye to Grace. “Mom, I still have things to do, so I’ll get back to work. I won’t disturb you anymore.”
Once Tessa left, Grace sank back into her chair. She stared at the documents on her desk, lost in thought, not even sure how things had ended up like this. She had also realized that ever since Aurora left, the company’s development and trajectory had completely changed–it was nothing like before. If she still couldn’t see how important Aurora had been to the corporation, then she truly would be a fool. But now, Aurora’s studio was running smoothly, and there was no way to interfere. No matter what was said, Daniel was already working with Aurora. That was an undeniable fact.
And with the announcement made public online, even if Grace wanted to take the project back, it was impossible. She drew in a deep breath, her mind in turmoil. Unable to hold back, she sent Aurora a message:
“Do you have time to meet at the café tomorrow?”
After sending it, Grace tossed her phone onto the desk without looking at Aurora’s reply. She was certain her daughter would respond. After all, whatever else happened, she was still her mother. Aurora surely still had some filial duty left in her.
Aurora, on the other hand, was surprised when she received the message. Her first thought was that Grace had sent it to the wrong person. She even suspected Grace had done it just to mess with her. After all, Grace had never sent her a message before. Back at the company, they had always kept a superior–subordinate relationship, rarely exchanging words.
