Chapter 1281
But now that she had left to run her own studio, she rarely returned to the Walton household. She hadnโt expected Grace to be the one to reach out first.
Aurora was in the middle of a meeting with Ian and Megan when Megan noticed her drifting off, puzzled as to why Aurora suddenly seemed distracted.
Seeing her stare at a message in a daze, Megan asked curiously, โWhatโs wrong? Werenโt we just discussing Mr. Lewisโs project?โ
Since Daniel was entrusting the project to them, they needed to take it seriously and work out the follow-up details. Besides, the project had already been delayed nearly a month, and from here on the timeline would only get tighter.
โItโs nothing, just someone suddenly sent me a message.โ Aurora feigned a casual tone. But inside, she couldnโt stop wondering why Grace would text her and what she wanted to talk about.
Ian noticed Auroraโs mind was no longer on the meeting, and at this point, keeping it going would be pointless. He spoke up. โAnyway, weโve already gone through most of it. Why donโt we continue tomorrow?โ
โI agree!โ Megan said eagerly. She had already been restless, and since the main points were covered, there was no reason to linger. Sheโd rather get on with something else.
Seeing that both Ian and Megan agreed, Aurora knew there was no point in dragging it out. โAlright, letโs leave it here for now.โ She tidied the desk and reminded them once more of the meetingโs importance.
When it ended, Megan asked if Aurora wanted to go out to eat. But Aurora shook her head and declined. โForget it, I still have things to do.โ
Megan looked a little disappointed. โAlright then, since youโre busy, I wonโt disturb you.โ She didnโt press further. Everyone had their own private matters, and pushing too much would only seem impolite.
After Megan left, Aurora finally pulled out her phone again. She stared at the message lying quietly on her phone, her heart wavering. She didnโt know whether she should meet Grace. And if they did meet, what would they even say to each other?
Ever since starting her studio, her days had been packed. Grace, running such a massive corporation, likely had no free time either. That left little chance for the two of them to meet. But the fact that Grace had reached out first meant there must be something important. Even though Aurora didnโt want to go, blood ties couldnโt be denied. This wasnโt something she could run from.
Rather than drag it out, it was better to face it head-on. Taking a deep breath, after some hesitation, Aurora made up her mind to see Grace. Her fingers slid across the screen, sending the reply. โIโm free today. Letโs meet today instead.โ
When Grace saw the message, she felt a flicker of displeasure, but she didnโt turn Aurora down. After all, she was the one who had suggested meeting. Now that the chance had come, she couldnโt waste it.
After getting herself ready, she drove straight to the cafรฉ they had agreed on. When she arrived, she saw Aurora already seated in the spot they had chosen.
