Lucas narrowed his eyes slightly, watching Desmond in silence, waiting to see what else he might say.

The moment Desmond caught that look, he knew he had put his foot in it again.

He turned his face aside, smacked himself, and muttered, “Damn mouth, why can’t you ever learn? Spouting nonsense here of all places.”

After that, he turned back with a sycophantic smile, “Actually, this sort of thing isn’t hard to fix. You just need to put your heart into coaxing Mrs. Carter.”

“Any suggestions?” Lucas asked, genuinely seeking his advice.

After all, this was something better left to someone with experience.

Until now, Aurora was the only woman in his life. He had never really been involved with anyone else.

Originally, Desmond had planned to tease him a little, but when he saw the sincerity in Lucas’s eyes, it hit him—Lucas really had always been faithful.

Even when he went to bars, he only drank. He never showed the slightest interest in calling over women.

Those big bosses who tried to slip him secretaries as gifts had all been turned down flat. He had even gone so far as to declare he wouldn’t cooperate with their companies in the future.

Because of that, no one dared to send him women anymore. If they did, it would only guarantee the deal fell through.

After a few lessons like that, everyone stopped trying.

All of it was true.

So, it was no wonder Lucas had no idea what to do—he had never been around other women. How could he know how to coax one?

The thought almost made Desmond laugh.

But he cleared his throat and put on a serious face. “In that case, Mr. Carter, you really did ask the right person.”

“Oh? What, do you have a girlfriend?” Lucas’s question cut him right back down.

His once straightened back slumped instantly.

With a wounded look, Desmond protested, “Mr. Carter, can’t you just say what you mean without using my single status to crush me?

“Even if I don’t have a girlfriend, I still know a thing or two about how to win a girl’s heart. I’m not like you, refusing to get close to women before.”

Maybe it was because the conversation had loosened him up, but Desmond was growing bolder with Lucas.

He wasn’t nearly as afraid anymore, and when he spoke, he sounded far more relaxed than before.

Lucas didn’t mind. As long as Desmond could help him coax Aurora, that was all he cared about—he just wanted a solution.

After basking in his own confidence for a moment, Desmond noticed the eager light in Lucas’s eyes. It was rare to see him like this. He was about to tease him a little when Lucas’s gaze suddenly turned cold.

“If you don’t get to the point right now, I’ll make sure you’re on the next flight to Southwest to dig mines.”

That one line snapped Desmond instantly back into seriousness.

“All right, all right, I get it.”

He cleared his throat. “Actually, it’s simple. Girls are easy to coax. Just send flowers, gold, or crystals. And above all–be sincere, because sincerity is always the ultimate weapon.”
