“Do you really think that’ll work?” Lucas was doubtful of Desmond’s taste.

After all, Aurora wasn’t an ordinary woman. He knew about those gestures already; it wasn’t as if he’d never come across them. But how could Aurora be compared to such clichés?

Desmond, however, patted his chest with absolute confidence. “As long as she’s a woman, there’s no way she won’t like these things.”

Seeing that Lucas was still skeptical, he quickly added, “All right, if you still don’t believe me, I’ll combine what I find online with my own experience and put together a full-on Wife-Chasing Guide for you.”

“A guide?”

“A Wife-Chasing Guide!” Desmond enunciated each word clearly, as if to emphasize its importance.

Lucas was left speechless. Was that really reliable?

It sounded more like the cheesy lines those TV show hooligans used. He wasn’t much for keeping up with trends, but even he had seen that kind of thing pop up online now and then.

Desmond could tell Lucas wasn’t fully convinced yet, but he pressed on. “Trust me, Mr. Carter. Even if you don’t believe anyone else, you can believe me.

“And besides, you can’t just charge ahead blindly on your own. Sometimes you need to listen to what the majority says.

“After all, there’s no one right answer here. If you keep trying to handle it all by yourself, nothing will change. It’s better to look at how others do it, learn from the good, and toss out the bad.”

Lucas looked at the sparkle in Desmond’s eyes and, surprisingly, found himself persuaded. He started to think maybe it was worth trying.

“All right then, we’ll do it your way.”

And with that, he told Desmond everything about Aurora’s current state.

“So what do you think I should do now?” Lucas added quietly, “Don’t worry, if this works and she forgives me, I’ll make sure you get a raise.”

The expectation in Desmond’s eyes instantly turned into pure joy, plain as day. He had been waiting half the morning for that very promise. How could he not be thrilled to hear it?

After careful thought, he still came back to the same conclusion: sincerity was the ultimate weapon.

“So, Mr. Carter, you absolutely have to explain to Mrs. Carter why you hid the truth in the first place. And just as important, you have to show the right attitude.”

Desmond’s tone was serious. “When it comes to coaxing a woman, you have to place yourself a little lower than her. That’s a rule, and a very important one.”

“All right. And after that?”

“After that, think carefully about whether you’ve done anything else to let Mrs. Carter down. If so, you need to confess.

“From now on, there can’t be any more secrets between the two of you.”

Desmond clapped his hands as another idea struck him.

“Oh, right–tonight, send her a bouquet of flowers. Go with ice-blue roses, they represent pure love.

“I’ve always thought red roses were too common. Only something as rare and refreshing as ice-blue roses suits Mrs. Carter’s stunning beauty.”

Hearing this, Lucas suddenly realized Desmond wasn’t entirely useless after all. A laugh escaped him. “How did I never notice you knew so much?”

“That’s only because you’ve been underestimating me,” Desmond shot back without hesitation. “You should know, back in school, I chased plenty of girls myself.”
