She looked at the ice-blue roses in her hands and began to reflect. In truth, Lucas' deception hadn't caused her any real loss.

It was only her own state of mind these past days that needed more adjusting.

Aurora lifted the flowers to her face, tilting them side to side. "Since your boss wants a chance so badly, I'll give him one."

With a faint smile, she went to wash up.

That night, Lucas quietly opened his door.

Moving gently, he crept to the guest room where Aurora was.

Staring at her door, a look of obsession flickered in his eyes.

Alone in the large bedroom, he had tossed and turned, unable to sleep, missing the warmth of being beside her.

He pulled out the spare key and unlocked the door.

A flash of triumph crossed his gaze as he tiptoed into Aurora’s room.

Inside, the room was pitch-dark, but the moonlight was enough for him to see. He found his way to her bedside with practiced ease.

Climbing onto the bed as quietly as he could, he stayed close to the edge, then little by little moved toward her.

When his skin finally brushed against hers, Lucas stopped.

Even his breath nearly stilled.

After adjusting his position, he turned his head and, by the moonlight, looked at Aurora’s peaceful sleeping face.

At that moment, he felt a deep sense of calm.

Even his breathing slowed, his heartbeat syncing with the rhythm of hers.

For the first time, Lucas clearly felt they were in perfect harmony.

Carefully, he stretched out his arm and drew her into his embrace.

Aurora frowned, letting out a small, discontented murmur.

The sound froze Lucas in place, afraid to move,

But soon, her brows relaxed again, and she nestled into his arms.

As if already familiar with his embrace, Aurora naturally found a comfortable position in his arms.

Seeing this, a rush of joy swept through Lucas' chest.

Did this mean Aurora had already grown used to his presence?

Was that why the two of them fit together so seamlessly?

Even just pressed against him, her reaction was so natural.

A smile flickered in Lucas' eyes and thought, “Rora, admit it, you can’t live without me either.”

He rested his chin on the top of her head, holding her tightly against him.

Of course. She should’ve known. She hadn’t guessed wrong–this man was never going to behave himself.

No wonder he hadn’t objected when she first said they should sleep in separate rooms. It turned out, he already had a backup plan.
