Aurora pinched his face hard, not holding back her strength.
Lucas frowned and woke up from the pain. The moment he opened his eyes, he was met with Auroraโs puffed-up, angry expression.
Lucas took the lead, questioning, โWhy are you on my bed?โ
Aurora slapped a hand to her forehead in exasperation. โNice act. Look carefully, this is the guest room I slept in last night. Whose bed do you think youโre on?โ
โOh, really?โ
Lucas scratched his head, his eyes dazed with confusion. He glanced around the room carefully, then nodded with mock seriousness. โSeems thereโs only one truthโI mustโve been sleepwalking last night.โ
โYou think Iโm going to believe that nonsense?โ Aurora ground her teeth as she glared at him.
When had this man become so shameless?
Lucas slowly sat up. โWell, if you donโt believe me, thereโs nothing I can do. Either way, neither of us lost anything, and we both slept pretty well.โ He recalled what Desmond had saidโif you want to win a girlโs heart, you need a thick skin. At this point, Lucas didnโt care about dignity anymore.
โGet out. Go back to your own room,โ Aurora said mercilessly.
But Lucas ignored her, stretching out his long arm to pull her into his embrace. He buried his face against her neck, inhaling deeply, instantly filled with satisfaction. โBut Iโm already used to sleeping with you. Donโt be so cruel.โ
โSo you admit you snuck into my room in the middle of the night?โ
โI donโt care. I was sleepwalking.โ
Lucas still had enough sense to know he couldnโt admit to sneaking in. Otherwise, Aurora would start locking the door. It was his mistake todayโnot slipping out before morning. But he hadnโt slept well these past few nights, and finally being able to hold Aurora close was too rare an opportunity to waste.
Aurora pinched his cheek again. โYou really are thick-skinned!โ
โGet up already, stop dawdling,โ Aurora urged. She still had to coordinate with the production team today and give Ian some instructions. Otherwise, she couldnโt feel at ease going off to film the variety show.
After all, the studio had only just started. Lucas, however, wasnโt willing to let go. โHoney, donโt be so cold, alright?โ
โLet go of me. I havenโt forgiven you yet.โ Aurora rubbed her temples. โAnd donโt you think your shamelessness has been growing by the day? You werenโt this thick-skinned before.โ
โI donโt care.โ Lucas tightened his hold on her. โWhen Iโm about to lose my wife, who cares about saving face?โ
โStop acting silly.โ
Aurora pushed him away with irritation and walked firmly toward the bathroom to wash up. She knew she wasnโt completely rejecting Lucas anymore, but she wasnโt warm to him either.
After all, he had deceived her. She had to keep her guard up. Heโd managed to hide things from her for so long, even though heโd had plenty of chances to tell her the truth. But Lucas had never chosen honesty.
That was something Aurora couldnโt accept. She only hoped this time he would truly recognize his mistake.
Watching her resolute back, Lucas thought she still hadnโt forgiven him.
