Listen to this chapter:

Aurora pinched his face hard, not holding back her strength.

Lucas frowned and woke up from the pain. The moment he opened his eyes, he was met with Auroraโ€™s puffed-up, angry expression.

Lucas took the lead, questioning, โ€œWhy are you on my bed?โ€

Aurora slapped a hand to her forehead in exasperation. โ€œNice act. Look carefully, this is the guest room I slept in last night. Whose bed do you think youโ€™re on?โ€

โ€œOh, really?โ€

Lucas scratched his head, his eyes dazed with confusion. He glanced around the room carefully, then nodded with mock seriousness. โ€œSeems thereโ€™s only one truthโ€“I mustโ€™ve been sleepwalking last night.โ€

โ€œYou think Iโ€™m going to believe that nonsense?โ€ Aurora ground her teeth as she glared at him.

When had this man become so shameless?

Lucas slowly sat up. โ€œWell, if you donโ€™t believe me, thereโ€™s nothing I can do. Either way, neither of us lost anything, and we both slept pretty well.โ€ He recalled what Desmond had saidโ€“if you want to win a girlโ€™s heart, you need a thick skin. At this point, Lucas didnโ€™t care about dignity anymore.

โ€œGet out. Go back to your own room,โ€ Aurora said mercilessly.

But Lucas ignored her, stretching out his long arm to pull her into his embrace. He buried his face against her neck, inhaling deeply, instantly filled with satisfaction. โ€œBut Iโ€™m already used to sleeping with you. Donโ€™t be so cruel.โ€

โ€œSo you admit you snuck into my room in the middle of the night?โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t care. I was sleepwalking.โ€

Lucas still had enough sense to know he couldnโ€™t admit to sneaking in. Otherwise, Aurora would start locking the door. It was his mistake todayโ€“not slipping out before morning. But he hadnโ€™t slept well these past few nights, and finally being able to hold Aurora close was too rare an opportunity to waste.

Aurora pinched his cheek again. โ€œYou really are thick-skinned!โ€

โ€œGet up already, stop dawdling,โ€ Aurora urged. She still had to coordinate with the production team today and give Ian some instructions. Otherwise, she couldnโ€™t feel at ease going off to film the variety show.

After all, the studio had only just started. Lucas, however, wasnโ€™t willing to let go. โ€œHoney, donโ€™t be so cold, alright?โ€

โ€œLet go of me. I havenโ€™t forgiven you yet.โ€ Aurora rubbed her temples. โ€œAnd donโ€™t you think your shamelessness has been growing by the day? You werenโ€™t this thick-skinned before.โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t care.โ€ Lucas tightened his hold on her. โ€œWhen Iโ€™m about to lose my wife, who cares about saving face?โ€

โ€œStop acting silly.โ€

Aurora pushed him away with irritation and walked firmly toward the bathroom to wash up. She knew she wasnโ€™t completely rejecting Lucas anymore, but she wasnโ€™t warm to him either.

After all, he had deceived her. She had to keep her guard up. Heโ€™d managed to hide things from her for so long, even though heโ€™d had plenty of chances to tell her the truth. But Lucas had never chosen honesty.

That was something Aurora couldnโ€™t accept. She only hoped this time he would truly recognize his mistake.

Watching her resolute back, Lucas thought she still hadnโ€™t forgiven him.
