Chapter 1357

Aurora understood at once. "That's why I bought a few other things, just to show my sincerity. Since everything else was prepared by you, I'd feel uneasy otherwise."

"We're one, you and I." Lucas tapped her lightly on the head. "So don't be polite with me. If you keep this up, I really will get upset."

"Going together to meet my parents is already the best gift you could give them, so you truly don't need to worry about anything else."

Looking into his earnest eyes, Aurora knew he wasn't lying.

"Alright, I get it. I was being too particular. Don't worry, I'll change that."

Lucas chuckled softly. "No need to be so serious; I was only reminding you. And my parents don't care about those things. As long as I'm happy, they won't think too much of it."

Aurora couldn't help but laugh. "So, you have that much influence with your parents?"

"Parents who truly love their children don't interfere with their choices." Lucas's dark eyes were steady. "Besides, I've already found the one I love. Why would they try to stop me?"

Aurora felt the heat of that affection burn through her. In Lucas' eyes, she really was the one he loved.

Her heart leapt at the thought.

"Come on, let's not waste time," Lucas suggested.

Aurora nodded in agreement.

After talking with him for so long, her nerves about meeting his parents had eased.

She was still a little anxious on the way, but not as badly as before, even able to admire the scenery along the road.

At every red light, Lucas stole glances at her, noting the constant smile in her eyes, and finally felt at peace.

He hadn't imagined that after all these years, he would be able to bring the girl he loved home to meet his parents, and even announce to the worldโ€”this was the girl he loved.

Along the way, the two of them chatted from time to time, and the atmosphere wasn't nearly as tense as before.

But after a while, Aurora noticed something strangeโ€”the farther they drove, the fewer people there were.

Even the number of cars dwindled until there were hardly any on the road.

Puzzled, she asked, "Is your family estate in a rather remote area?"

"Not exactlyโ€ฆ"

Lucas wasn't sure how to answer her.

The truth was, their family estate sat at the foot of a mountain, and the entire mountainside belonged to his family.

They had chosen the location for peace and quiet.

And with fewer people around, there was less chance of unnecessary trouble.

Seeing Lucas hesitate, Aurora had already guessed the truth.

Families like his usually preferred secluded, private places.

The estate was likely built with great grandeur as well.

With that thought, she didn't press the question any further.

Lucas had originally wanted to reassure her but then decided against it.

After all, she would see the estate soon enough.

Better to let her witness it with her own eyes than explain it in words.

Before long, Aurora noticed the car turning into a grand, imposing estate.
