Aurora wrapped her arms around Lucas’ back, slowly tightening her hold.

She realized there was no way she could ever repay the weight of his love.

The only thing she could do was treat him better.

“I don’t need you to repay me!” Lucas’ tone was firm. “Don’t you dare treat me like an outsider, or I’ll be angry. All I want is simple–to have you by my side, staying with me always.”

He pulled back just enough to look her in the eye.

Finally, Aurora nodded hard. “Don’t worry, I’ll always stay with you.”

Those words soothed Lucas completely, filling him with warmth.

He held Aurora tightly, the two of them locked in an embrace.

The next morning.

When Aurora woke, the spot beside her was already cold.

Clearly, Lucas had gotten up long ago.

She wasn’t surprised–after all, they had to leave early for the family estate today.

Still, when it came to Lucas’ home, she couldn’t help but feel curious.

Even after being married for so long, she had never formally been inside his house.

Now, with the sudden visit ahead of her, she couldn’t help but feel a little nervous.

When Aurora stepped into the living room, she found Lucas busy in the kitchen, just as she expected.

Feeling a little embarrassed, she asked, “Aren’t we going to your family’s place today? Do you still have to make me breakfast?”

“What? Just because we’re going to my family’s, does that mean we should skip breakfast?” Lucas looked at her and said, “Nothing is more important than you having breakfast.”

To him, even returning home couldn’t interrupt Aurora’s daily routine.

She caught the meaning in his words.

“Then should I help you?”

Lucas rejected the idea without hesitation. “No need. Just wait there. I’ll call you when it’s ready.”

“Alright, I’ll go tidy up first.”

Aurora freshened up quickly, then packed the gifts she planned to bring for Lucas’ parents.

She especially didn’t forget the skincare she’d bought for his mother.

Lucas’ preparations were already more than enough.

But Aurora felt she had to bring something of her own too.

Carrying a gift would show how much she respected his mother.

Besides, it was her first visit–she couldn’t just show up empty-handed.

Even if Lucas had prepared everything, none of it came directly from her.

The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt.

Once they had both finished getting ready and were in the car, Lucas’ eyes landed on the skincare tucked in the corner.

He raised a brow. “When did you buy that? How come I didn’t know?”

“I thought your mom might need it, so I brought some along.”

Aurora chose her words carefully. “I wasn’t sure what she liked, so I just picked according to my mom’s preferences. I even asked Megan, but she didn’t know what your mom likes either.”

“Of course she wouldn’t.”

Lucas wasn’t surprised at all. “She was still a kid the last time she came to my house. So much time has passed since then–it’s only natural she doesn’t remember.”
