Chapter 1364
Edward didnโt mind Lucasโ words at all. โYouโd better keep an eye on the company. Donโt think I donโt know what youโre plotting.โ
Diana gave a cold snort. โExactly. I know you want a honeymoon, but finish your work at the company first. Donโt ruin your fatherโs and my peace of mind.โ
Aurora glanced around. So, families could get along like this? She had thought families like Lucasโ would surely be stricter. She hadnโt expected the atmosphere to be this light and cheerful.
Lucas chuckled, then looked at Aurora with mock grievance. โSee? My parents are this domineering. Looks like our honeymoon trip will have to be postponed.โ
โWhat are you saying?โ Diana shot him a stunned look. โWe never said you couldnโt go on a honeymoon. Itโs just that you havenโt worked hard enough.โ
โHavenโt I worked hard enough?โ Lucas couldnโt hold back his protest. โIf Dad hadnโt insisted on retiring at thirty, would I even be stuck working here? Iโd already be enjoying life at home with my wife and kids.โ
Aurora was speechless. She wasnโt ready to have kids that soon.
Edward wasnโt about to back down. โI call that early training. You just donโt know how good youโve had it.โ
โAlright, Dad, Iโve had plenty of training. Now I think itโs time you came back and took over the company.โ
Edward was speechless.
When he looked up, he met Lucasโ earnest gaze. Clearly, he wasnโt joking.
Edward tightened his grip on his fork and changed the subject. โHoney, try this crab meatโitโs really good.โ
โAlright, Iโll give it a try,โ Diana answered, indulging him.
The two of them ignored Lucas completely. Aurora looked from one to the other, then finally let out a small laugh.
Lucas shot Aurora a look of mock annoyance. โHoney, theyโre ganging up on me, and youโre sitting there laughing at me.โ
โItโs fine, Iโm on the side of fairness.โ
Diana burst out laughing, her smile so wide her teeth showed. โSee, Aurora knows just what to say. Thatโs the difference with daughtersโgirls are soft and sweet, so much better to look at than boys.โ
โSo basically, Iโm the extra one in this family now?โ
Aurora couldnโt help finding it amusing to see Lucas acting jealous. Usually, he was always calm and steady in front of her. It was only in front of his parents that he seemed to slip back into the role of a child.
โDonโt take it to heart. Your parents are only trying to toughen you up,โ Aurora smoothed things over.
She knew Edward and Diana werenโt really arguing, but she wanted to blend into the warmth of their family. The atmosphere was contagious. Compared to the tension sheโd felt earlier, she was now completely at ease.
Dinner ended in laughter and satisfaction all around.
Throughout the meal, Diana couldnโt stop praising Aurora.
Aurora responded warmly, โMom, youโre the beautiful one. I still need to learn your secrets for keeping so well.โ
โThatโs easy. Next time, weโll book a day at the spa together.โ
Diana adored Auroraโs straightforward and gracious nature.
Aurora smiled. โOf course, Mom. As long as I have time, Iโll go with you.โ
