She turned her head to ask for Lucas’ opinion, but before she could even speak, he seemed to anticipate her thoughts. Without hesitation, he said, “Sure, let’s stay the night. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to get you to the studio on time tomorrow, so you won’t be late.” Aurora was still hesitant.
But Diana immediately took her hand and said, “Alright, don’t overthink it. I like you, that’s why I want you by my side more. Whenever guests came by before, or when blind dates were introduced to Lucas, Diana’s eyes never lit up. She knew her son didn’t like those women. Forcing him would make her no different from those parents who pressured their children into marriage. She wanted to be a more rational mother. So, she chose to respect her child’s wishes. But not many people understood this, even the elders from the powerful families kept urging her. After all, now that Lucas had taken over the company, he was practically the head of the family. If the head didn’t marry soon, then the Carter family couldn’t continue its line. In fact, Edward and Diana both knew about Lucas keeping his identity hidden. If he didn’t hide it while looking for a partner, how could he be sure the other person wasn’t only after his status? These days, there were far too many people with ulterior motives.
