Chapter 1368

โ€œAlright then, thank you, Mom!โ€ Aurora no longer tried to refuse.

In her heart, she was deeply grateful to Diana.

Since Diana treated her like a daughter of her own, she would never treat Diana poorly either.

What she couldnโ€™t find in her own mother, she had found warmth here.

Besides, they truly had been nothing but kind to her.

From the moment she entered until now, she hadnโ€™t felt even the slightest discomfort.

On the contrary, Diana and Edward had cared for her in every way.

In this warm family, Aurora felt as if she had returned to a time when she wasnโ€™t forced to play the role of a villain.

โ€œAlright then, stay here tonight and rest easy,โ€ Diana said quickly, already bustling about. โ€œIโ€™ll have the butler prepare a room for you.โ€

โ€œNo need, Mom.โ€ Lucas stepped forward, slipping an arm around Auroraโ€™s shoulders. โ€œDid you forget something? Sheโ€™ll stay in the same room with me.โ€

Diana slapped her forehead with a laugh. โ€œLook at my memory, how could I forget something so important?โ€

Edward walked over, chuckling. โ€œI think you simply see Aurora as your own daughter, thatโ€™s why you were ready to separate her from our son.โ€

โ€œLooking at it this way, our boy really did steal a treasure.โ€

The whole room burst into laughter at his words.

Aurora instinctively glanced at Lucas, and sure enough, saw his face darken.

โ€œDad, am I even your son?โ€ Lucas demanded.

โ€œHmm, maybe not,โ€ Edward replied with a straight face.

Lucas drew a sharp breath, tightened his hold on Auroraโ€™s shoulder, and headed for the stairs. โ€œCome on, Aurora, letโ€™s get back to our room. Iโ€™ve had enough of these two who clearly donโ€™t care about me.โ€

โ€œWait, let me say something to Mom first.โ€

Aurora was pulled along by Lucas, her body moving without any control of her own.

He marched straight toward the room, muttering under his breath, โ€œDonโ€™t bother. Sheโ€™s got Dad to look after her. With the way those two dote on each other, itโ€™s like we donโ€™t even need to exist.โ€

Her soft goodnight to Diana was lost in the air, carried away before it reached its mark.

Lucas walked so fast that Aurora had no chance to linger.

Only when the door slammed shut with a sharp bang did Diana finally let out a quiet laugh.

Turning to Edward, she said, โ€œThis is the first time Iโ€™ve ever seen our son so full of life.โ€

โ€œTrue enough. Before this, he always carried himself like an old man. Thatโ€™s why I thought it was better for him to run the companyโ€”I had no energy for it myself, not when all my thoughts were on you.โ€

Edward always knew how to play along; whatever Diana said, he immediately echoed, never letting her words fall flat.

At that, Diana shot him a look.

โ€œStop joking around. Itโ€™s late. Letโ€™s get ready for bed.โ€

โ€œAlright, whatever my wife says goes.โ€

In good spirits, Diana returned to their room to wash up, fully satisfied with the daughter-in-law her son had brought home.

Meanwhile, in their own room, as soon as the door closed, Aurora turned to Lucas and demanded, โ€œWhy are you picking a fight with Mom?โ€

โ€œI wasnโ€™t mad at her,โ€ Lucas grumbled. โ€œI was mad at the old man.โ€
