Chapter 1375

Megan nodded in satisfaction.

As expected, once Aurora learned the braceletโ€™s true worth, she couldnโ€™t stay calm. That explained why Aurora had seemed so unfazed beforeโ€“she simply hadnโ€™t known its value.

โ€œThatโ€™s right, it really is worth a hundred million,โ€ Megan added. โ€œAnd this bracelet is only ever passed down to the Carter familyโ€™s daughters-in-law. Looks like my aunt has already accepted you. Not only that, but she must be very pleased with you.โ€

Aurora held her wrist carefully, hardly daring to lower her hand. โ€œI knew it was given to daughters-in-law, but I never imagined it was this valuable.โ€ She glanced around, already searching for a box to tuck it away.

โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€ Megan asked, confused.

Aurora gave a helpless little laugh. โ€œIโ€™d feel much safer putting something this valuable away. Wearing it on my wrist makes me too uneasy.โ€

โ€œIt canโ€™t be that fragileโ€ฆโ€ Megan muttered, though even she sounded uncertain. Maybe she shouldnโ€™t have mentioned the price at all. Now that things had turned out this way, what if her cousin found out and gave her a scolding?

Trying to reassure her, Megan said, โ€œItโ€™s already yours now. No matter what happens, it doesnโ€™t really concern them anymore.โ€

Aurora shot her a glance. โ€œForget it. Now that I know the price, I really canโ€™t bring myself to wear it.โ€

And so, ignoring Meganโ€™s attempts to dissuade her, Aurora found a box and carefully placed the bracelet inside. She planned to discuss it with Lucas later and decide on a proper place to store it. To her, the bracelet symbolized Dianaโ€™s respect, as well as her place as the Carter familyโ€™s daughter-in-law.

โ€œWell, alright. Keeping it safe is a good idea too,โ€ Megan conceded, giving up on persuading her. โ€œBy the way, is there anything you need me to do at the studio today?โ€ Megan yawned, glancing lazily around the room.

Right now, the only work Megan wanted to do was accompany Aurora on shows. As for business matters, she neither understood them nor wanted to learn.

โ€œDonโ€™t be so lazy. There are things you really need to pick up on your own,โ€ Aurora reminded her.

โ€œOh, but Iโ€™ve got you, donโ€™t I?โ€ Megan replied carelessly.

โ€œI canโ€™t always be by your side,โ€ Aurora said, exasperated. She wanted Megan to grow on her own instead of hiding behind her forever. Otherwise, sheโ€™d never truly mature.

But Megan only shrugged it off.

As they spoke, Ian knocked on the office door. He greeted Megan with a nod before turning respectfully to Aurora. โ€œBoss, Iโ€™ve finished measuring the data at the site.โ€

โ€œAlright, let me take a look.โ€

Aurora stood up, casting a glance at Megan slumped in her chair, looking bored out of her mind. โ€œYouโ€™re coming too. Time to learn how to read the data.โ€

โ€œMe? Do I really have to?โ€ Megan pointed to herself, face full of reluctance.

โ€œOf course. Iโ€™m going to teach you a few things.โ€

Aurora grabbed her by the hand and pulled her along toward the meeting room. Meganโ€™s expression screamed misery, but her feet betrayed her, obediently following Auroraโ€™s pace.

On the way, Aurora called over two more employees. โ€œYou two come along as well. Weโ€™ll have a meeting together.โ€
