At ten o’clock, Megan showed up right on time, just as she always did.

Aurora shot her a look. “How is this any different from when you were in school? Back then you’d slip into class at the last minute, and now you’re doing the same thing at the studio.”

Megan scratched her head awkwardly. “It’s all Leon’s fault. He dragged me out drinking again last night, and I overdid it.”

“You’re working now. You need to learn what matters most and what doesn’t.”

Aurora usually spoiled Megan, but she knew when to draw the line. Besides, Megan’s parents had reminded her more than once to keep their daughter in check. This was one of those times she couldn’t let it slide.

Megan nodded earnestly. “I get it, Aurora. Don’t worry, it won’t happen again. I’ll fix my schedule, and I promise during workdays I won’t go out drinking with them anymore.”

“As long as you know.”

Aurora gave her a light tap on the head.

The exchange didn’t escape Hannah, who watched with envy. She wished she could have such a close friend. The bond between boss and best friend was something rare and precious.

Megan also noticed the difference in Aurora today. The smile on her face was unlike her usual–it shone from the inside out.

She thought of how Aurora had mentioned going to Lucas‘ family home yesterday, and her eyes lit up with gossip. “So, how was it at your in-laws’ place yesterday?”

“It was great. They’re both so easy to get along with.”

Aurora’s eyes sparkled as she said it, her lips curving in an uncontainable smile.

That only made Megan more curious. “And besides that, what else?”

“What else? Focus on your work,” Aurora said, trying to steer her away from prying.

Megan pouted, “I’m just curious. I want to know more details, but you won’t tell me. And besides, it’s been ages since I last went to Madam Diana’s place. If you don’t tell me, I’ll just go myself and ask her.”

She knew Diana had always treated her well and would share anything with her.

Aurora, embarrassed, quickly stopped her. “Alright, alright, I’ll tell you.”

“There really isn’t much. After dinner with them, I could see for myself–they’re truly wonderful people, and they’re very supportive of me and Lucas.

“Look, they even gave me this.” Aurora showed her the bracelet Diana had given her the day before.

Megan’s eyes widened at once. She grabbed Aurora’s hand, examining it from every angle, her voice rising in disbelief, “No way. Something this valuable, and she just handed it to you? I know this bracelet.”

“What is it? Does it have some kind of history?”

“That bracelet is the Carter family’s heirloom!”

Aurora nodded calmly. “I know that much.”

“You know?!” Megan circled her again and again. “Then do you also know it’s worth a hundred million?”

“What?!”

This time it was Aurora’s turn to be stunned.

Her right hand instinctively covered her left wrist, afraid to even move.

She couldn’t believe it—she had been casually wearing something worth a hundred million.
