Desmond was still processing everything. He had assumed Lucas would at least go home to rest first, not rush out so urgently.

But after thinking about it, it did make sense.

Yvonne was assertive, and there was no telling if Aurora might get hurt in any way.

Desmond hadn’t interacted much with Yvonne recently; most of his dealings had been with Aurora.

At the very least, he had a good impression of her.

When Aurora was around, Lucas never made things difficult for them.

But when Yvonne was involved, Lucas always did things his own way. The two of them were just business partners.

Between the two women, Desmond actually preferred Aurora. He didn’t want anything bad to happen to her.

So, he naturally chose to look at the situation from Lucas’ perspective.

After all, Aurora brought real value to the company, whereas Yvonne was just a collaborator.

The company could always have many partners, but there was only one Aurora.

Before Lucas left, Desmond spoke seriously, “Mr. Carter, don’t worry. If anything comes up, you can contact me anytime. I’ll keep things under control here while you handle matters up front.”

“Got it.”

Lucas rarely showed such gestures, but he patted Desmond’s shoulder. “I’ll remember this. When I get back, your bonus will be doubled.”

Desmond nodded earnestly, but once Lucas left, he couldn’t help showing his excitement.

He wasn’t just doing this for the bonus. He genuinely wanted to help protect Aurora’s place.

After leaving the company, before heading to Bustin City, Lucas made a call to Edwin.

Whenever Yvonne returned to the country, she usually contacted either him or Edwin, more often Edwin.

When Edwin answered, Lucas got straight to the point. “Uncle, has Yvonne already returned?”

“What, you just found out?” Edwin sounded surprised. He had assumed Yvonne would have called Lucas the moment she arrived.

But apparently, Lucas had only learned about it through other means.

“I saw the news.”

Hearing that, Edwin’s heart gave a slight jolt.

“What do you plan to do?” he asked cautiously, already guessing that Lucas wouldn’t take the matter lightly.

After all, everyone had witnessed how fiercely Lucas defended Aurora at the family dinner.

It was obvious Aurora was his weakness. Anyone who went against her was effectively going against him.

Yvonne had just returned from abroad and clearly didn’t know the situation yet.

Seeing her so confident earlier, Edwin hadn’t argued with her.

But now that Lucas had brought up the matter himself, it was clear that this incident, the interview, wasn’t going to be brushed aside so easily.
