Noticing Judy standing at the door with a thermal container in hand, Joseph quickly straightened up and called out seriously, "Judy, since you’re already here, why are you standing outside? You can just come in directly next time. My door is always open for you."

After hearing that, the others in the office tactfully stepped away.

Judy smiled faintly and said nothing.

“You seemed a little tense yesterday, so I made your favorite chicken soup to help you recharge.”

Joseph took the thermal container, the smile on his face growing wider. "Perfect. You always know what I need. I knew it."

Judy responded sweetly, saying it was the least she could do. She knew exactly what kind of woman men liked, so words like that came naturally. Joseph was a typical macho man. Judy’s behavior in front of everyone gave him immense satisfaction.

The staff exchanged subtle glances with each other. Sometimes, working in a company meant learning to mentally blind yourself.

Judy picked up the documents from the floor. "No rush. Let’s take our time. These might still come in handy."

Joseph frowned. "No, I’ve already gone through all of this. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be so overwhelmed."

Even though Judy didn’t fully understand the details, she knew exactly what Joseph was anxious about.

She picked up a file, flipped through it casually, then placed it beside the desk. After that, she grabbed another and placed it to the right of the first. Like that, she started sorting them into categories, and in the end, narrowed everything down to one company.

“Joseph, why don’t you take a look at this company?”

“What?”

Seeing how serious Judy looked, Joseph was momentarily dazed.

Judy leaned in, handing the proposal to him. "Take a look. I just noticed this. Joseph, this company overlaps quite a bit with Walton Corporation’s projects, but after reviewing the rest of their overall conditions, I think they’re still more suitable for our company’s development."

After hearing her analysis, Joseph nodded in approval. "That’s a solid take."

Judy smiled lightly. "It’s just petty thinking, nothing that impressive."

“How could you say that?” Joseph pulled her into his arms, making a solemn promise. “Don’t worry. I would never let you suffer."

“But this company competes directly with the Waltons…” Judy hesitated, sounding conflicted.

She was testing him, trying to see whether he still had feelings for Aurora.

Joseph pretended not to catch the implication in her words and changed the subject. “It’s fine. That’s just how the business world works. Companies like this evolve quickly. It’s normal–one day you get stepped on, the next day it’s someone else. Happens all the time.”
