Chapter 193
After Joseph finished speaking, Judy fell silent. She didnโt say another word.
He sure made it sound nice now, but wasnโt he the one who lost his temper in the office just moments ago? It really was trueโout in the world, status was whatever one claimed for themselves.
โSince I have already given you the soup, Iโll head back now,โ she said, bidding Joseph goodbye.
He paused for a moment, but didnโt try to stop her or say anything else.
Joseph had taken an interest in Seafront Construction. After asking around, he quickly learned about Wendy.
โWendy Shaws?โ His assistant gave him a full rundown of everything heโd managed to dig up over the past few days.
โYes. Word is, she appears to get along well with Aurora Walton on the surface, but when she first joined the company, the first thing she asked about was any projects that involved the Waltonsโshe wanted to be in charge of those. Plus, a lot of projects sheโs now handling were originally poached from Walton Corporation. That company has been a direct rival of the Waltons for quite a while now.โ
As Joseph listened closely, his eyes lit up. Wendy was exactly the kind of person heโd been looking for. And with the company being such a good fit, he genuinely felt like she was heaven-sent.
โGet in touch with Wendy Shaws. I want everything you can find on her.โ
The assistant nodded. โGot it. No problem.โ
Once the assistant left the room, Joseph finally dropped his faรงade. His gaze turned cold and vicious as he stared into the distance. Since Aurora had chosen to play dirty, she couldnโt blame him for doing the same.
Back at Walton Corporation, Aurora couldnโt shake the lingering discomfort from that morningโs encounter. Why was Joseph always hovering like a shadow that wouldnโt leave? No matter where she went, he always seemed to find her.
Looking back on the last three years, Aurora couldnโt help but feel like the whole thing had been a joke. It was as if sheโd been completely blind.
Luxy came over to give her work report, but when she noticed Aurora spacing out, she couldnโt help but chuckle. โAurora, whatโs going on with you? Youโve been out of it since early this morning. Thatโs not like you at all.โ
Aurora blinked, finally snapping back to attention. She gave an awkward smile. โItโs nothing. Iโm fine. Go ahead with your report, Iโm listening.โ
Still a little concerned, Lucy asked, โIs it because of what happened this morning?โ
โHow did you know about that?โ Aurora looked a little surprised.
But a moment later, she figured it out. After all, it happened right at the company entrance. They were all in the same departmentโthere was no way people wouldnโt find out. And with how fast things spread online these days, what piece of news could escape a smartphone?
She hadnโt planned on bringing it up, but since people in the office were already talking, there was no point pretending anymore. Then Aurora smiled wryly. โThereโs nothing you can do about it. A bad relationship is like a permanent recordโit follows you around for life. Especially when the guy sticks to you like some kind of leech. No matter what you do, you just canโt shake him off. So yeah, thereโs not much I can do.โ
Lucy looked at her relaxed, carefree demeanor and felt a twinge of envy. โItโs okay. Men like that? We donโt need them. No point getting upset over trash.โ
Aurora glanced at Lucyโs serious expression, then reached out and gave her soft cheek a playful pinch. Seeing her stunned face made it all the more amusing.
