Chapter 195

Aurora took a deep breath. It was clear now that Joseph was starting to interfere with her work. She couldnโ€™t let this continue. Next time, she had to hit harder. Sending him to prison last time clearly hadnโ€™t taught him enough of a lesson. He never seemed to learn. Fiddling with the bracelet on her wrist, Aurora narrowed her eyes and began to plan her next move.

โ€œJoseph Hunt?โ€

Wendy was momentarily confused when she heard the name. It didnโ€™t ring any bells. Her assistant explained, โ€œYes, heโ€™s the heir to Hunt Enterprises. He insisted on meeting with you in person. He said he has something youโ€™d definitely be interested in.โ€

That caught Wendyโ€™s attention. She stood up and looked at her assistant. โ€œDid he really say that?โ€

โ€œYes. He said it with full confidence. Heโ€™s in the reception room right now, waiting for you.โ€

Wendyโ€™s lips curved into a slight smirk. โ€œWell, Iโ€™d like to see what this man is all about, daring to claim he has something Iโ€™d want.โ€

With that, she walked toward the reception room. Joseph had certainly piqued her interest. When she arrived, she sat down across from him, her posture relaxed as she asked, โ€œYou said you have something that might interest me, didnโ€™t you?โ€

Joseph took one look at Wendyโ€”pure on the outside, with ambition in her eyesโ€”and immediately thought sheโ€™d make a great ally.

โ€œOf course. Iโ€™ve long heard about the rivalry between you and Walton Corporation.โ€

Wendyโ€™s eyes glinted, but she didnโ€™t respond directly. โ€œThatโ€™s just hearsay. Without proof, I wonโ€™t confirm anything.โ€

Joseph gave a faint smirk and laid out the evidence of his relationship with Aurora. โ€œI know sheโ€™s your target. And, as it happens, sheโ€™s mine too. Since we share the same target, then the enemy of my enemy is a friend. Why not work together?โ€

Wendyโ€™s eyes lit up as she looked at the photos of the two of them. But a moment later, something didnโ€™t sit right. If they had once been a couple, why was he now helping her? Was this some kind of trap waiting for her to fall into?

Joseph could see the suspicion in her eyes but didnโ€™t take it to heart. โ€œMiss Shaws, rest assured, I came with nothing but sincerity. If youโ€™re willing to trust me, we can team up and bring down our common enemy.โ€ He leaned back slightly. โ€œItโ€™s a good deal. If it works, weโ€™ll be excellent partners moving forward. And this isnโ€™t just a one-off thingโ€”itโ€™s a long-term, sustainable alliance. The logic behind โ€˜the enemy of my enemy is my friendโ€™ is something Iโ€™m sure you understand well.โ€

Wendy looked at the sly smile on his face. It all felt a bit unreliable, but as Lucasโ€™ face appeared in her mind, she decided it was worth it. Even if the man in front of her was a pit of fire, she was willing to jump in just to see. If she didnโ€™t try, how would she know how it might end? As long as it could bring Aurora down, she was willing to try anything.

โ€œAlright. Iโ€™ll take you as a partner. Just donโ€™t let me down.โ€

She reached out her hand toward Joseph. He gave a faint smile and shook it, as if everything had gone exactly as planned.
