Chapter 195
Aurora took a deep breath. It was clear now that Joseph was starting to interfere with her work. She couldnโt let this continue. Next time, she had to hit harder. Sending him to prison last time clearly hadnโt taught him enough of a lesson. He never seemed to learn. Fiddling with the bracelet on her wrist, Aurora narrowed her eyes and began to plan her next move.
โJoseph Hunt?โ
Wendy was momentarily confused when she heard the name. It didnโt ring any bells. Her assistant explained, โYes, heโs the heir to Hunt Enterprises. He insisted on meeting with you in person. He said he has something youโd definitely be interested in.โ
That caught Wendyโs attention. She stood up and looked at her assistant. โDid he really say that?โ
โYes. He said it with full confidence. Heโs in the reception room right now, waiting for you.โ
Wendyโs lips curved into a slight smirk. โWell, Iโd like to see what this man is all about, daring to claim he has something Iโd want.โ
With that, she walked toward the reception room. Joseph had certainly piqued her interest. When she arrived, she sat down across from him, her posture relaxed as she asked, โYou said you have something that might interest me, didnโt you?โ
Joseph took one look at Wendyโpure on the outside, with ambition in her eyesโand immediately thought sheโd make a great ally.
โOf course. Iโve long heard about the rivalry between you and Walton Corporation.โ
Wendyโs eyes glinted, but she didnโt respond directly. โThatโs just hearsay. Without proof, I wonโt confirm anything.โ
Joseph gave a faint smirk and laid out the evidence of his relationship with Aurora. โI know sheโs your target. And, as it happens, sheโs mine too. Since we share the same target, then the enemy of my enemy is a friend. Why not work together?โ
Wendyโs eyes lit up as she looked at the photos of the two of them. But a moment later, something didnโt sit right. If they had once been a couple, why was he now helping her? Was this some kind of trap waiting for her to fall into?
Joseph could see the suspicion in her eyes but didnโt take it to heart. โMiss Shaws, rest assured, I came with nothing but sincerity. If youโre willing to trust me, we can team up and bring down our common enemy.โ He leaned back slightly. โItโs a good deal. If it works, weโll be excellent partners moving forward. And this isnโt just a one-off thingโitโs a long-term, sustainable alliance. The logic behind โthe enemy of my enemy is my friendโ is something Iโm sure you understand well.โ
Wendy looked at the sly smile on his face. It all felt a bit unreliable, but as Lucasโ face appeared in her mind, she decided it was worth it. Even if the man in front of her was a pit of fire, she was willing to jump in just to see. If she didnโt try, how would she know how it might end? As long as it could bring Aurora down, she was willing to try anything.
โAlright. Iโll take you as a partner. Just donโt let me down.โ
She reached out her hand toward Joseph. He gave a faint smile and shook it, as if everything had gone exactly as planned.
