Listen to this chapter:

โ€œYouโ€ฆhow could you?โ€

Aurora let out a soft laugh. โ€œAlright, work is still more important. Donโ€™t overthink it.โ€

Lucy thought about it for a moment and realized it made sense.

While they were speaking, someone knocked on the office door.

Both Aurora and Lucy turned toward the sound.

The person at the door looked at Aurora and said, โ€œMiss Aurora, the Chairwoman wants to see you.โ€

Auroraโ€™s gaze darkened slightly. โ€œAlright, I understand. Iโ€™ll head over now.โ€

Lucy guessed, โ€œIs it about what happened this morning?โ€

Aurora gave a quiet โ€œMm.โ€

โ€œIt could be, but Iโ€™m not sure yet. Better to go and find out."

โ€œThen you go ahead, Aurora. Iโ€™ll get back to work too.โ€

After they went their separate ways, Aurora headed straight to the chairwomanโ€™s office.

She knocked on the door, and it took a while before a voice responded from inside.

When Aurora walked in, Grace was hunched over her desk, writing something, fully focused on her work.

It was as if she hadnโ€™t even seen Aurora come in, continuing with her task as though no one else was in the room.

Aurora waited for a while before finally speaking up.

โ€œMadam Grace, is there something you needed from me?โ€

Grace still didnโ€™t respond and kept working, acting as if Aurora wasnโ€™t there at all.

Aurora understood then โ€“ Grace was deliberately giving her the cold shoulder.

So, she decided to sit patiently on the couch and started going through her own tasks.

Eventually, Grace sighed.

Her daughterโ€™s temperament was just like hers.

She finally broke the silence. โ€œDo you know why I asked you to come here today?โ€

โ€œMadam Grace, you didnโ€™t tell me, so I wouldnโ€™t dare make assumptions,โ€ Aurora answered respectfully.

Grace stood up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing out at the bustling traffic below.

โ€œThe reason Walton Corporation has stayed at the top for so many years in this circle is because of the reputation weโ€™ve maintained.โ€

The moment she said that, Aurora knew exactly where this was going.

โ€œBut what happened between you and your ex this morningโ€“it was an absolute disgrace.โ€

The last part came with a noticeably harsher tone.

Aurora lowered her gaze, unsure of how to respond.

โ€œDonโ€™t worry. Iโ€™ll handle it.โ€

Chapter 194

After thinking it over, that was the only response she could give.

Grace turned to look at her daughter.

Her biggest issue was always that stubborn pride. โ€œIt must be handled properly. The companyโ€™s image isnโ€™t something you or I can afford to tarnish.

"Remember, even though your last name is Walton and the company carries that name, it doesnโ€™t belong to just the two of us.โ€

A chill crept through Auroraโ€™s chest. โ€œUnderstood.โ€

Even though she was the one humiliated, her mother hadnโ€™t shown a shred of concern.

All she cared about was the companyโ€™s reputation.

Aurora clenched her fingers, forcing herself to stay calm.

She couldnโ€™t afford to let her emotions get the better of her.

After all, her mother wasnโ€™t wrongโ€“the company wasnโ€™t theirs alone to decide for.

โ€œThatโ€™s all I have to say. Youโ€™ll need to continue following up with Leonardโ€™s side.โ€

With that, Grace returned to her seat and went back to work.

Aurora stood there in a daze for a long moment before finally walking out and closing the office door behind her.

As the door shut, Grace lifted her head, her eyes clouded with a flicker of something unreadable.
