Listen to this chapter:

Aurora arrived at the office that afternoon, and everyone turned to look at her with admiration. They were all secretly amazedโ€”who wouldโ€™ve thought sheโ€™d actually pull this off? When Grace called her in earlier, most of them had assumed the project was already beyond saving, especially since this project involved David, who had a reputation for being notoriously difficult to deal with. But now, not only had the materials been reinstated, the contract had even been drafted from their side. Thinking of all this, their gazes toward Aurora grew even more reverent. She had become the role model they all aspired to be.

โ€œAurora, how did you manage to pull this off?โ€ Lucy came bouncing over, eyes gleaming with admiration and joy, unlike the others, whose eyes still held envy.

Aurora noticed it immediately. She reached out to ruffle Lucyโ€™s hair, raising her voice just a touch as she said, โ€œJust luck, thatโ€™s all. The most important thing is staying grounded and working hard. Donโ€™t look for shortcuts.โ€ With that, Aurora turned and headed back to her office. Of course, she knew exactly what those people were thinking. But the truth was, luck had played a role today. So, she wasnโ€™t about to take full credit for it.

Later, her assistant knocked on the door and came in to report what had happened that afternoon.

โ€œThey delivered more materials than expected?โ€ Aurora was a little surprised. Davidโ€™s efficiency was higher than she thought.

The assistant nodded. โ€œYes, but weโ€™re still paying the same price. I checked with their project manager, and they said itโ€™s a gift.โ€

Aurora couldnโ€™t help but feel shocked. In this day and age, when every vendor seemed out for profit, who would actually give something away for free? Aurora still had her doubts.

โ€œAre you sure we didnโ€™t pay extra?โ€

โ€œNo, we didnโ€™t. Finance went over the numbers thoroughly before I brought them to you,โ€ the assistant assured her.

Only after hearing that did Aurora feel at ease. She picked up the phone and dialed David. He answered almost instantly.

โ€œHello, Mr. Warren.โ€ His tone was surprisingly respectful.

โ€œMiss Walton, is something the matter?โ€

Chapter 220

โ€œAbout the supplies you sentโ€”are you sure everythingโ€™s correct?โ€ Davidโ€™s heart skipped a beat.

โ€œIs something missing?โ€

โ€œNo, no,โ€ Aurora couldnโ€™t help chuckling at the cautious tone in his voice. โ€œI mean, did you send more than what we agreed on? The amount doesnโ€™t quite match up.โ€

David finally breathed a sigh of relief. โ€œOh, thatโ€™s what you meant. I thoughtโ€ฆ No, nothingโ€™s missing. I included those extra supplies on purpose. Consider them a gift , Miss Walton. A gesture of goodwill now that weโ€™re back on the same page.โ€

Aurora raised an eyebrow. That really didnโ€™t sound like something David would do. Everyone had heard stories about his usual approach to business. She replied politely, โ€œThatโ€™s very generous of you, Mr. Warren. You really didnโ€™t have to.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s nothing. Please, just accept it. Iโ€™ll feel better knowing you did.โ€

Aurora frowned slightly. โ€œFeel better about what?โ€

David suddenly got flustered. โ€œNo, no, I just meantโ€ฆ I misunderstood you before. Now that weโ€™ve cleared things up, this is just my way of making it up to you.โ€

Something about it still felt off, but she couldnโ€™t quite put her finger on it.

โ€œAlright then. Iโ€™m finalizing the contract now. Iโ€™ll have someone send it over shortly.โ€
