Aurora arrived at the office that afternoon, and everyone turned to look at her with admiration. They were all secretly amazedโwho wouldโve thought sheโd actually pull this off? When Grace called her in earlier, most of them had assumed the project was already beyond saving, especially since this project involved David, who had a reputation for being notoriously difficult to deal with. But now, not only had the materials been reinstated, the contract had even been drafted from their side. Thinking of all this, their gazes toward Aurora grew even more reverent. She had become the role model they all aspired to be.
โAurora, how did you manage to pull this off?โ Lucy came bouncing over, eyes gleaming with admiration and joy, unlike the others, whose eyes still held envy.
Aurora noticed it immediately. She reached out to ruffle Lucyโs hair, raising her voice just a touch as she said, โJust luck, thatโs all. The most important thing is staying grounded and working hard. Donโt look for shortcuts.โ With that, Aurora turned and headed back to her office. Of course, she knew exactly what those people were thinking. But the truth was, luck had played a role today. So, she wasnโt about to take full credit for it.
Later, her assistant knocked on the door and came in to report what had happened that afternoon.
โThey delivered more materials than expected?โ Aurora was a little surprised. Davidโs efficiency was higher than she thought.
The assistant nodded. โYes, but weโre still paying the same price. I checked with their project manager, and they said itโs a gift.โ
Aurora couldnโt help but feel shocked. In this day and age, when every vendor seemed out for profit, who would actually give something away for free? Aurora still had her doubts.
โAre you sure we didnโt pay extra?โ
โNo, we didnโt. Finance went over the numbers thoroughly before I brought them to you,โ the assistant assured her.
Only after hearing that did Aurora feel at ease. She picked up the phone and dialed David. He answered almost instantly.
โHello, Mr. Warren.โ His tone was surprisingly respectful.
โMiss Walton, is something the matter?โ
Chapter 220
โAbout the supplies you sentโare you sure everythingโs correct?โ Davidโs heart skipped a beat.
โIs something missing?โ
โNo, no,โ Aurora couldnโt help chuckling at the cautious tone in his voice. โI mean, did you send more than what we agreed on? The amount doesnโt quite match up.โ
David finally breathed a sigh of relief. โOh, thatโs what you meant. I thoughtโฆ No, nothingโs missing. I included those extra supplies on purpose. Consider them a gift , Miss Walton. A gesture of goodwill now that weโre back on the same page.โ
Aurora raised an eyebrow. That really didnโt sound like something David would do. Everyone had heard stories about his usual approach to business. She replied politely, โThatโs very generous of you, Mr. Warren. You really didnโt have to.โ
โItโs nothing. Please, just accept it. Iโll feel better knowing you did.โ
Aurora frowned slightly. โFeel better about what?โ
David suddenly got flustered. โNo, no, I just meantโฆ I misunderstood you before. Now that weโve cleared things up, this is just my way of making it up to you.โ
Something about it still felt off, but she couldnโt quite put her finger on it.
โAlright then. Iโm finalizing the contract now. Iโll have someone send it over shortly.โ
