Chapter 315

Lucas stepped up beside Aurora, his gaze sweeping over the chattering crowd with growing irritation.

โ€œIs all this noise about you?โ€ he asked casually, though his eyes never once strayed from the people surrounding them. He was committing every face to memory. These people had the nerve to gang up on his Rora when he wasnโ€™t around. Theyโ€™d pay for that.

At first, no one thought much of his presence. But the moment they met his eyes, a strange unease settled over them. There was something in his stare that made them all flinch, as if they were being silently called to account.

Aurora understood what he meant right away. She smiled lightly and said, โ€œIโ€™m not sure. Maybe theyโ€™re just gossiping about something else.โ€

Lucas didnโ€™t reply. His silence spoke louder than words as his piercing gaze remained locked on every person there. He wasnโ€™t letting a single one of them off the hook.

The woman in the red dress began to panic as the energy in the room shifted. Everyone had been on her side a moment agoโ€”what happened? And anyway, wasnโ€™t Aurora the one who tried to seduce her future brother-in-law? Wasnโ€™t she the mistress in all this? Since when did she become untouchable?

The more she thought about it, the more bitter she felt. So, this was how the wealthy played the game? No matter how damning the accusations, all it took was a few words from someone powerful and everything disappeared. Her chest tightened with resentment. She couldnโ€™t hold it in anymore.

โ€œThis is how people like you operate, isnโ€™t it?โ€ she shouted. Her lips curled into a sneer as she turned her glare on Aurora. She didnโ€™t believe for a second that Aurora was innocent. Not without proof.

The moment those words left her mouth, the room erupted. Every pair of eyes turned to the woman in red. Even Lucas raised an eyebrow, mildly surprised that someone had the nerve to speak up like that. Ah, the tallest tree catches the wind.

He didnโ€™t say a wordโ€”just stared at her quietly, expression unreadable.

Truthfully, once Lucas had shown up, Tessa had already given up hope of taking Aurora down. The man radiated capability and control, and even she found it hard to believe anyone could go against him and win.

But then this woman in red stepped up. Tessa hadnโ€™t expected it. Whatever Rachel had whispered to her mustโ€™ve been convincing enough to make her believe in a baseless rumor. Tessaโ€™s gaze slid to Rachel, her eyes glinting with satisfaction. What a sharp little blade that was, always full of surprises.

Megan, clearly annoyed, spoke up. โ€œWhat are you even talking about? None of us know you; why would you come out of nowhere just to slander someone? Are you doing this on purpose?โ€

The womanโ€™s red lips curled into a sneer: โ€œI just canโ€™t stand the sight of people like you.โ€

โ€œSo what if she has a husband? That doesnโ€™t mean sheโ€™s not capable of cheating. You people are laughable.โ€

That did it. The fire in Auroraโ€™s chest flared to life.

She reached out and stopped Lucas as he moved to say something, giving him a subtle shake of her head. She could handle this.

With calm, deliberate steps, Aurora walked forward in her heels, her gaze locked on the woman like a laser. Her voice, cool and clear as a mountain stream, sliced cleanly through the tension in the room.

โ€œSo, youโ€™re absolutely certain that I had an affair?โ€
