Listen to this chapter:

โ€œBetter to believe it than not; just look at that face. What more proof do you need?โ€

The womanโ€™s fists clenched at her sides, her glare locked on Megan like a loaded weapon. Her anger wasnโ€™t aimless. Her own husband had been lured away by someone with a seductive smile and sweet voice. Everything sheโ€™d built was gone.

That wound still bled beneath her skin, and now, all that fury found a new target.

Aurora let out a cold laugh and lifted a hand, beckoning toward the corner. โ€œCome here,โ€ she said, eyes fixed on Julian.

He didnโ€™t know what she was planning and hesitated, his expression puzzled.

When others noticed her gesture, the crowd buzzed again.

โ€œNo way, sheโ€™s doing this in front of everyone?โ€

โ€œIs she seriously calling another man over while her husbandโ€™s right there? Shameless.โ€

People jumped to conclusions as easily as flipping a page. But Aurora didnโ€™t react.

Her face remained composed, a faint smile playing on her lips as she watched Julian walk over. At first, he was reluctant, but the moment he saw her lift her phone ever so slightlyโ€”pointing right at itโ€”he understood.

She was gesturing to the recording, the one he thought she mightโ€™ve deleted. He had no choice but to comply.

Tessaโ€™s expression twisted with frustration. Whose side was he on, anyway? How could he be so obedient to Aurora in front of everyoneโ€”at a banquet, no less? It was humiliating.

Her eyes stayed locked on him, watching his every move like a hawk. Even Lucas raised a brow, unsure what Aurora was getting at.

But in the very next moment, everyone had their answer.

Aurora turned to the crowd with a smile. โ€œEveryone, this is the so-called future โ€˜brother-in-lawโ€™ you were talking about.โ€

She then glanced to her other side. โ€œAnd over here is my husband.โ€

With one man standing on each side of her, the contrast was immediate and striking. It wasnโ€™t hard to tell who truly matched her and stood beside her as an equal. And with that one comparison, the question of whether sheโ€™d cheat seemed laughable.

Even the woman in the red dress began to waver. Maybe the information sheโ€™d received hadnโ€™t been as solid as she thought. But it was too late to back down now. Admitting she was wrong would be a slap in the face.

So, she straightened her shoulders and snapped, โ€œAnd? What exactly are you trying to say?โ€ She was losing patience. โ€œIf youโ€™ve got a point, then spit it out. Donโ€™t waste everyoneโ€™s time.โ€

Aurora didnโ€™t flinch. She simply smiled, then gently looped her arm through Lucasโ€™. โ€œMy husband and I are doing just fine,โ€ she said calmly. โ€œWe make a good match.โ€

Lucasโ€™ eyes lit upโ€”her words landing like fireworks in his chest. She called him her husband. The word echoed in his mind, warm and lingering.

Aurora turned back to the woman, her voice light but firm. โ€œI donโ€™t know who sent you to stir all this up.โ€

โ€œI wasnโ€™tโ€ฆโ€

Aurora held up a hand, her tone still polite. โ€œLet me finish. Iโ€™m just trying to have a civil conversation. Letโ€™s be real; look at my husband. Heโ€™s gorgeous. Do you really think I need to chase after anyone else?โ€

The womanโ€™s face stiffened, her pride taking a hit.

โ€œOh, please. How do we know youโ€™re not just the type who likes other peopleโ€™s men?โ€

Auroraโ€™s calm demeanor only made it worse. She stood there, composed, unbotheredโ€”exactly the kind of woman who didnโ€™t need to fight to win.

And that was what the woman couldnโ€™t stand most.
