Chapter 374
The assistant didnโt need any prompting from the executives; he had already made up his mind to take good care of Grace.
Hearing his reassurance, the others finally felt at ease and left the hospital.
Once the hallway quieted and he was the only one left, the assistant couldnโt help but start overthinking again. What was going on with Aurora? Grace had been hospitalized, yet Aurora hadnโt shown up at all. Was it possible she didnโt know?
But then he took a deep breath, realizing how unlikely that was. After all, the entire floor of employees had witnessed what happened. Not to mention, the executives had all rushed over. There was no way Aurora could be unaware.
He was probably just overthinking it. Pushing those thoughts aside, the assistant reminded himself that his priority was Graceโs care. He couldnโt afford distractions. And so, he focused all his attention on looking after her.
Meanwhile, Tessa was shocked when she received the news about her mother.
โWhat happened? Is Mom okay?โ she blurted out.
One of Walton Corporationโs senior executives quickly answered, "Donโt worry, Miss Tessa. The Chairwoman is in the hospital, and the assistant is with her. Everything is under control.โ
Despite his calm tone, Tessa remained uneasy. She immediately asked for the hospital address and rushed over without delay. No matter what, she still had feelings for Grace.
She didnโt know what had caused the sudden illness, but going there in person served two purposes: to find out the truth and to show her filial concern.
Sure enough, when she arrived, the only person in the hospital room was the assistant. Not a single other executive or staff member was in sight.
Tessa frowned and asked, โAre you the only one here?โ
The assistantโs heart skipped a beat at the question. He quickly stood and replied, โYes, Miss Tessa. Iโm the only one here.โ
โWhereโs Aurora? She didnโt come?โ Tessa was genuinely puzzled. Their mother had collapsed at the company and was now in the hospitalโhow could Aurora not come check on her?
It didnโt make sense. Normally, Aurora paid close attention to situations like this at work. And more importantly, Grace was their mother. How could she not show up? Especially when it happened right at the office.
But the assistant only shook his head. โIโm sorry, Miss Tessa. I donโt know where the General Manager went.โ
Tessa frowned. โWasnโt she at the company?โ
โIโm not sure. After she left the Chairwoman in my care, she justโฆ left. I donโt know if she stayed at the company or went elsewhere; I didnโt askโafter all, Iโm just an assistant.โ
Tessa paused for a moment. That did make some sense. She gave a small nod. โAlright. Got it.โ
Then she hesitated. The assistant immediately tensed, โIs something wrong, Miss Tessa?โ
Tessa gave him a gentle smile. โItโs nothing. I understand now. As for updating herโฆ if needed, Iโll be the one to let her know.โ
โOf course. Thank you, Miss Tessa.โ The assistant bowed slightly, speaking with respectful sincerity.
Tessa returned his politeness with a faint, composed smile. All in all, their exchange remained pleasant and civil.
