Chapter 375
What Tessa didnโt know was that Aurora was, in fact, completely unaware of everything that had happened.
After leaving the company, sheโd wandered aimlessly, without any real direction.
Graceโs words had cut deep. If she stayed at the office after that, wouldnโt it make her seem shameless?
She simply couldnโt bring herself to linger there any longer.
As harsh as her mother had been, Aurora couldnโt deny that the online situation hadnโt been handled well either.
In a way, Grace wasnโt wrong.
Aurora had come to terms with that, but after their argument, sheโd stormed out and hadnโt figured out how to make amends.
With a weary sigh, she felt a creeping sense of unease, as if something bad had happened.
She glanced at her phone and there were still no messages.
She had been gone from the company for quite some time now, and yet Grace hadnโt reached out, not even once.
Aurora had been secretly hoping her mother might soften, send her a message, ask her to come back and keep working.
After all, even if she hadnโt performed miracles, sheโd worked hard, put in the effort, taken the heat.
But staring at her empty inbox, that little sliver of hope quietly shattered.
Had she expected too much from her mother?
Aurora pressed her lips into a thin line and tucked her phone away, walking on in silence, her expression bleak and quietly miserable.
She looked like a lost soul on the street until a sleek sports car slowed beside her.
Behind the wheel was Joseph, with Judy in the passenger seat.
Joseph was driving with dark sunglasses perched on his nose, his hair slicked back to reveal a clean, confident forehead.
He hadnโt changed much, but there was something different now. He carried himself with a kind of smug confidence.
That was Auroraโs first thought when she saw him again.
And when Joseph saw Aurora in such a pitiful, beaten-down state, he couldnโt help but mock her, his tone dripping with amusement.
โWell, well, who do we have here? Isnโt this our famous Miss Aurora Walton?โ
โWhat happened? You look like youโve hit rock bottom, wandering alone by the river?"
Aurora let out a cold laugh, but seeing the smug satisfaction on his face, she found herself at a loss for words.
So, it was trueโbeing decent would make anyone an easy target.
Judy sat smugly in the passenger seat, arms crossed, looking down at Aurora with a self-satisfied sneer.
She could only hope Aurora had truly fallen from grace.
That way, sheโd finally have a legitimate reason to mock her outright.
As long as Aurora was suffering, Judy would be delighted.
โAurora, I used to think that as the second heiress of the Walton family, your life would be on the upswing. I never imagined Iโd see you wandering alone by the river like thisโฆ how pitiful.โ
Her tone was soft and syrupy. โIf youโre really struggling, why donโt we give you a lift? Weโve got a car, after all.โ
Aurora exhaled sharply, the glint in her eyes darkening with barely concealed fury.
She was already in a foul mood, and now this?
Of all people to run into, it had to be these two idiots.
She was starting to wonder if sheโd forgotten to check her luck this week.
Taking a deep breath, she snapped, โThen drive on. What the hell does that have to do with me? Itโs just a carโwhat, you think that gives you some kind of superiority?โ
โAnd you.โ She shot a glare at Judy. โClinging to a man to climb the ladder, now sitting in the front seat acting like youโve won something?โ
Aurora let out a scornful laugh, gave a thumbs-down with a flick of her hand, then turned and walked off without looking back.
