Jasmine chuckled at his teasing, though behind that smile lay something deeper. She’d noticed that flicker in Leonard’s eyes just now. And because of that, her heart ached even more for her son. Ever since what happened to Nora, how long had it been since he smiled for real?
After Leonard left, a long time passed before Nora finally lifted her head. Her gaze was fixed on something far away, yet it seemed unfocused, like she wasn’t really seeing anything. Watching her like that, Jasmine still felt grateful. Even if her reactions were slow, it meant she was still here. “Nora, do you want to go with your brother too?” she asked with a smile. “Don’t worry. He’s off chasing that pretty lady. But in his heart, he’s always thinking of his adorable Nora.”
No matter how much Jasmine talked after that, Nora didn’t respond again. But Jasmine wasn’t discouraged. She believed that one day, Nora would get better. Noticing the shift in Lucas’ expression, Desmond spoke up with concern, “Is everything alright, sir?” “Where’s Aurora now?” Lucas asked. Desmond thought for a moment, then shook his head. “I’m not sure where Mrs. Carter is. Right now, her whereabouts are unknown.” “What do you mean by that?” Lucas frowned deeper, clearly not understanding.
