Chapter 382
He prayed Tessa wouldnโt smash the phone in a fit of rage. Heโd only bought it a few months ago and had been taking great care of it!
โMiss Tessa, please donโt get too upset. If youโd like, I can step out and speak to Miss Aurora myself.โ
Tessa replied coldly, โNo need. Iโll deal with her myself.โ
With that, she turned on her heel and walked out, heels clicking sharply against the floor. She didnโt want to stay in the hospital room and risk disturbing Graceโs rest. To be fair, while she didnโt have much affection for Aurora, when it came to Grace, she was genuinely devotedโno one could deny she was a dutiful daughter.
The assistant, though still worried about his phone, knew better than to protest. Tessa was technically his superior, after all. If she wanted to use his phone, what could he possibly say? The thought alone made him want to cry. All he could do now was silently pray that the two sisters had a civil conversation and that his phone survived it.
Outside the room, Tessa swiped the screen to answer the call. Aurora, seeing the call connect, immediately spoke, โHowโs the Chairwoman? Is she alright?โ
When no voice came from the other end, she frowned. โWhatโs going on? Is her condition serious? Why arenโt you saying anything?โ
Tessa let out a cold scoff. โAurora, you really are something.โ
โItโs you?โ Aurora instantly realized what was going on. โWhy do you have Jasonโs phone?โ
Tessa laughed dryly. โOf course, I have it. Iโm the one here with Mom right now. As for you, always claiming to care so much about her, when it really mattered, where were you? I didnโt see you anywhere. You call that being a good daughter?โ
Aurora slowly clenched her fists. Even if sheโd made mistakes, Tessa had no right to judge her.
โMy business is none of yours,โ Aurora snapped, her tone just as harsh. โGive the phone back to Jason. I have no interest in talking to you.โ
โNo interest?โ Tessa scoffed with open disdain. โWell, Iโm the one with Mom now. If youโve got the guts, come here yourself.โ
โFine. Send me the address.โ Aurora didnโt hesitate in the slightest. She took Tessaโs words at face value; being by her motherโs side was exactly what she wanted.
But Tessa suddenly backpedaled.
โAs if. Now that Iโm here, we donโt need you. You want the company, right? Then go focus on that.โ She casually glanced at her freshly done nails, her face brimming with smug satisfaction. Once Grace woke up, she would finally see who truly cared about her. And when that happened, what was a measly position in the company? She could easily take over the whole thing.
Aurora gritted her teeth. โTessa, donโt forget, sheโs my mother too. What gives you the right to push me out?โ
โIs that so?โ Tessa let out a mocking laugh. โFunny, how you always treat her like the โChairwomanโ at the office; itโs like youโve already forgotten sheโs your mother.โ
โWhatโs that supposed to mean?โ
โOh, nothing much. Just that since youโre so eager to play the General Manager, then stick with it. Mom has me. She doesnโt need you anymore.โ
With that, Tessa hung up the call without giving Aurora a chance to respond.
