Chapter 465

Hearing that, Joseph gave up on trying to make Judy stay. In fact, he felt a tiny flutter of joy. He hadnโ€™t expected her to be seriously thinking about their future.

โ€œAlright then, go on with your work. Iโ€™m heading to the office too,โ€ he said.

The moment she heard that, Judy left in a hurry, not even pausing to look back. Joseph, meanwhile, kept sighing to himself. Judy had just started a studio, so she was naturally busy and barely making a profit. But the truth was, Judy had already visited quite a few places on Josephโ€™s dime.

Back then, her studio hadnโ€™t even been set up yet, and all she wanted to do was travel around a bit. And by the time she came back, sheโ€™d opened a studioโ€“something even she hadnโ€™t fully planned for. But looking back now, the biggest surprise wasnโ€™t the studio. It was Joseph.

Once Judy left, Joseph got dressed and headed to the office. At first, the receptionist didnโ€™t recognize him. It wasnโ€™t until she heard someone greet him as โ€œMr. Huntโ€ that she finally realized who he was.

โ€œMr. Hunt, which floor are you heading to?โ€ she asked politely.

Without even lifting his head, Joseph replied, โ€œItโ€™s alright, Iโ€™ll take it from here.โ€

Hearing that, the receptionist could only return to her desk, reluctant and a little regretful. What a shameโ€“Joseph looked incredible when he dressed up like this. Most days, he didnโ€™t care about his appearance at all. This was the first time sheโ€™d ever seen this polished side of him.

โ€œLukey, try this one, itโ€™s really good.โ€

Lucas kept his face completely impassive while Wendy beamed and tried to place food on his plate. He froze mid-movement, his fork suspended in the air, eyes fixed on that piece of meat. His lips were pressed tightly together. He honestly didnโ€™t know how to respond. Should he throw it out? That might be too harshโ€“it could hurt her pride. But Lucas was a germophobe. He couldnโ€™t stand eating food picked up by another womanโ€™s fork.

Wendy was still urging him, โ€œCome on, eat, Lukey. Donโ€™t be so polite with me.โ€

Lucas looked at her radiant smile and couldnโ€™t help the flicker of irritation inside him. He spoke up directly. โ€œIโ€™m not going to be polite with you. Besides, Iโ€™m the one treating today. If Iโ€™m hosting, how could I possibly act reserved?โ€

Wendy smiled even more brightly and, without using the shared utensils, reached out to place some food into Lucasโ€™s plate. This time, Lucasโ€™s patience wore thin.

โ€œEnough. Just eat your own food,โ€ he said.

Wendy frowned. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong, Lukey? I was just trying to share something tasty with you. Why are you being so harsh?โ€

Seeing her like that, the veins at Lucasโ€™s temple twitched. He was right on the edge of losing his temper.

โ€œJust eat and behave,โ€ he snapped.

Wendyโ€™s eyes glinted. Taking advantage of Lucasโ€™s momentary distraction, she quickly took a few photos of them eating together.

Lucas kept glancing at his phone, waiting for a message from Aurora. He had asked her what she was having for lunch, but so much time had passed and she still hadnโ€™t replied. It puzzled him, so he kept checking, hoping to hear from her.

Wendy, on the other hand, pushed her luck. She suddenly snatched his phone. โ€œLukey, weโ€™re out having fun. Why are you glued to your phone?โ€
