Chapter 465
Hearing that, Joseph gave up on trying to make Judy stay. In fact, he felt a tiny flutter of joy. He hadnโt expected her to be seriously thinking about their future.
โAlright then, go on with your work. Iโm heading to the office too,โ he said.
The moment she heard that, Judy left in a hurry, not even pausing to look back. Joseph, meanwhile, kept sighing to himself. Judy had just started a studio, so she was naturally busy and barely making a profit. But the truth was, Judy had already visited quite a few places on Josephโs dime.
Back then, her studio hadnโt even been set up yet, and all she wanted to do was travel around a bit. And by the time she came back, sheโd opened a studioโsomething even she hadnโt fully planned for. But looking back now, the biggest surprise wasnโt the studio. It was Joseph.
Once Judy left, Joseph got dressed and headed to the office. At first, the receptionist didnโt recognize him. It wasnโt until she heard someone greet him as โMr. Huntโ that she finally realized who he was.
โMr. Hunt, which floor are you heading to?โ she asked politely.
Without even lifting his head, Joseph replied, โItโs alright, Iโll take it from here.โ
Hearing that, the receptionist could only return to her desk, reluctant and a little regretful. What a shameโJoseph looked incredible when he dressed up like this. Most days, he didnโt care about his appearance at all. This was the first time sheโd ever seen this polished side of him.
โLukey, try this one, itโs really good.โ
Lucas kept his face completely impassive while Wendy beamed and tried to place food on his plate. He froze mid-movement, his fork suspended in the air, eyes fixed on that piece of meat. His lips were pressed tightly together. He honestly didnโt know how to respond. Should he throw it out? That might be too harshโit could hurt her pride. But Lucas was a germophobe. He couldnโt stand eating food picked up by another womanโs fork.
Wendy was still urging him, โCome on, eat, Lukey. Donโt be so polite with me.โ
Lucas looked at her radiant smile and couldnโt help the flicker of irritation inside him. He spoke up directly. โIโm not going to be polite with you. Besides, Iโm the one treating today. If Iโm hosting, how could I possibly act reserved?โ
Wendy smiled even more brightly and, without using the shared utensils, reached out to place some food into Lucasโs plate. This time, Lucasโs patience wore thin.
โEnough. Just eat your own food,โ he said.
Wendy frowned. โWhatโs wrong, Lukey? I was just trying to share something tasty with you. Why are you being so harsh?โ
Seeing her like that, the veins at Lucasโs temple twitched. He was right on the edge of losing his temper.
โJust eat and behave,โ he snapped.
Wendyโs eyes glinted. Taking advantage of Lucasโs momentary distraction, she quickly took a few photos of them eating together.
Lucas kept glancing at his phone, waiting for a message from Aurora. He had asked her what she was having for lunch, but so much time had passed and she still hadnโt replied. It puzzled him, so he kept checking, hoping to hear from her.
Wendy, on the other hand, pushed her luck. She suddenly snatched his phone. โLukey, weโre out having fun. Why are you glued to your phone?โ
