Chapter 468
Leonard hesitated for a long moment. His Adamโs apple moved slightly as he swallowed, then he finally said, โAurora, if possibleโฆ you donโt need to thank me. It feels too formal. Weโre friends, arenโt we?โ
Under the sunlight, his light-colored hair shimmered, giving him an almost ethereal look. But this time, Aurora clearly saw the seriousness on his face. It wasnโt the first or second time sheโd seen Leonard, but she had never seen him wear that kind of expression before.
โWhatโs with that serious look?โ she asked, trying to steer the conversation away.
She didnโt want to face him when he looked like that. Leonard understood what she was doing, but he only smiled. โItโs nothing. I just think, if you really consider me a friend, then donโt be afraid to lean on me. I donโt mind the trouble. If thereโs anything I can help with, I always will.โ
Aurora patted his shoulder. โDonโt worry. I wonโt hold back with you.โ
Just as they were about to part ways, Leonard couldnโt help but ask, โBack at lunchโฆ did you see Lucas?โ
His tone suggested a question, but his expression said he already knew the answer. The light in Auroraโs eyes dimmed slightly, and the smile on her lips faltered.
โNo idea what youโre talking about.โ
She quickly lifted her smile again. โAlright, Iโm heading back. Be safe on the way.โ
But the moment she turned around, her expression dropped completely. She walked into Walton Corporation with a cold face. People around her didnโt even dare greet her.
Aurora was always a workaholic, but at least she usually carried a touch of warmth. Today, though, everything about her screamed, โIโm in a bad mood. Donโt mess with me.โ Even Ian, who came to deliver documents, approached with caution.
โMiss Walton, Iโm here with the files LC International just sent over.โ
Aurora gave a soft โMm,โ and said, โJust leave it there.โ
Ian did as instructed, placing the documents where she indicated. He hesitated for a moment, unsure if he should say something about her mood. After all, when Aurora was in a bad mood, it affected the whole department โ everyone walked on eggshells.
Seeing him still standing there, Aurora raised a brow, โWhy are you still here? Donโt you have anything else to do?โ
She frowned slightly, her eyes fixed on him.
Ian cleared his throat. โNo, I mean, yes, I do. Of course I have work to do.โ
โThen go do it.โ
That confirmed it: Aurora was clearly not in a good place today. Or to put it more bluntly, something was definitely bothering her, and she hadnโt been in a good mood all day.
Taking a deep breath, Ian said carefully, โMiss Walton, if somethingโs bothering you, you can talk to me. Who knows, maybe I can help.โ
โWhatโs that supposed to mean?โ
Aurora gave him a curious look. She was in a bad mood? Who said that?
โAnd who told you Iโm in a bad mood? Iโm perfectly fine!โ
Her voice rose a little on the last sentence, and she straightened up in her seat. Seeing how eager she was to prove otherwise, Ian nearly burst out laughing.
