Chapter 484

โ€œFine. I hope youโ€™re not lying to me because you know exactly what happens if you are.โ€

Ianโ€™s gaze flickered, but he stood by what heโ€™d said.

โ€œMiss Tessa, I have no reason to lie to you. And besides, Iโ€™m well aware of what youโ€™re capable of.โ€

โ€œGood. Thatโ€™s how it should be.โ€

With that, Tessa ended the call.

She turned toward the window, her expression dark and unreadable under the night sky.

โ€œAurora, youโ€™d better never come back.โ€

If Aurora disappeared for good, Tessa would be the sole heir to Walton Corporation.

As for Auroraโ€“sheโ€™d be a name of the past.

One Tessa was enough to erase and replace her without hesitation.

And if she didnโ€™t disappear on her own, then Tessa would make sure she did.

Her gaze turned sharp, her fingers curling around the window frame as an oppressive chill settled around her.

โ€œGone, huh? I donโ€™t believe it. How could someone vanish in a city like Ravenshore? Even if I have to dig through every corner of this place, I will find you.โ€

Tessa had the front deskโ€™s number at Walton Corporation.

A quick call confirmed what she didnโ€™t expectโ€“Aurora had been taken away in an ambulance.

The receptionist was just a junior staffer. She didnโ€™t dare go against Tessaโ€™s request.

After all, she still wanted to keep her job.

They were all salaried employees.

Disobeying a superior, especially the chairwomanโ€™s eldest daughter, wasnโ€™t an option.

And it wasnโ€™t unreasonable for a sister to ask about her siblingโ€™s whereabouts, was it?

With that in mind, the receptionist relaxed a little.

She wasnโ€™t nearly as nervous as sheโ€™d been earlier.

After ending the call, Tessa immediately contacted the hospital.

As it happened, she had some connections with the hospitalโ€™s director.

One call later, she got the answerโ€“Aurora had only been diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis.

Hearing the news, visible disappointment flickered across Tessaโ€™s face.

She lowered her voice and asked coldly, โ€œIs there a way to keep her sedated indefinitely?โ€

The doctor on the other end of the line was stunned. โ€œMiss Walton, thatโ€™s illegal. And sheโ€™s your sister. How could youโ€ฆโ€

โ€œSpare me the lecture,โ€ Tessa snapped. โ€œI donโ€™t care about the law or family ties. I care about results.โ€

There was fury in her voice, her eyes bloodshot with rage, like a wild animal backed into a corner.

The doctor recoiled from the force of it, shaken.

But after a moment of silence, thinking of his own future, he still mustered the nerve to refuse.

โ€œIโ€™m sorry, Miss Walton. I canโ€™t do that. I wonโ€™t.โ€

And with that, he hung up.

Tessa stared at the dark screen of her phone, stunned.

How unbelievable.

That same doctor had once come begging for her help, and now he had the nerve to act high and mighty?

He hadnโ€™t climbed his way to chief physician without getting his hands dirty.

Did he really want her to start listing every skeleton in his closet?

Her expression darkened. Without hesitation, she typed out a message:

โ€œIf you donโ€™t want your past exposed, youโ€™d better do as I say. All Iโ€™m asking is for you to quietly give her something undetectable. Keep her asleep. Donโ€™t let her wake. No one finds out. Itโ€™s a clean outcome for both of us, and I wonโ€™t trouble you again.โ€

The doctor read the message, hesitation gripping him.

She wasnโ€™t wrongโ€“his past couldnโ€™t survive the light of day.

If word got out, heโ€™d lose everything, title and reputation included.

But if he refused to go along with Tessa, he might as well hand in his resignation.
