Chapter 497
The nurses and doctors had initially planned to intervene, but the moment they recognized the faces, they hesitated. These two werenโt just anyoneโthey were both well-known figures in the hospital.
Hearing the commotion outside, Ian grew increasingly irritated. Aurora was still unconscious, and now the hallway sounded like a street brawl. What kind of hospital was this, anyway? He flung the door open, ready to lash out, but the words caught in his throat the moment he saw what was happening.
What the hell? Why were Lucas and Leonard going at each other like this? And since when did these two even know each other? Ian pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. โWhat on earth are you two doing? This is a hospital. You think this is the place for a fistfight?โ
Lucas, already planning to stop when he saw Ian at the door, took a step back. Leonard, too, began to lower his hands. After all, Ian was right. This was a hospitalโthey needed to consider others. And more importantly, Ian worked directly for Aurora. At the very least, they owed him some respect.
โHowโs Aurora?โ Lucas asked, striding forward without hesitation, anxious to hear any update. Heโd been worried the entire way over, and now, after all that chaos, he still hadnโt even seen her. How could he not be concerned? So much time had passed, and all heโd gotten was resistance from every side. The thought alone made his fists clench tighter. He turned to glance at Leonard and Wendy, struggling to hold back his fury. But now wasnโt the time. Aurora came first. Everything else could wait.
Ian looked at him, at a loss for how to even begin explaining.
It was Leonard who finally spoke, voice laced with sarcasm. โSo, you really are useless. You donโt even know whether your own woman is awake or not. What good are you as a man?โ
โShut your mouth. I wasnโt speaking to you.โ
Lucasโ presence was overwhelming, silencing everyone in the room. Even Ian felt a chill run down his spine. Was this man really just the general managerโs husband? That commanding auraโheโd never seen anything like it, not even from Grace herself. Truth be told, not even she could command a room like this.
Leonard stood frozen, stunned into silence. Wendy, on the other hand, looked completely unbothered. Of course, she knew what Lucas was like behind closed doors. If he wasnโt so afraid of being exposed and caught lying to Aurora, she wouldnโt have had any leverage on him in the first place. Wendy had already figured Aurora out through their time together. She couldnโt stand being lied to. She was the kind of woman who didnโt even tolerate a speck of deception. And that was exactly why Lucas had kept things from her for so longโbecause he hadnโt found the right moment to come clean.
โYโYes,โ Ian finally answered, stumbling over his words. โThe general manager still hasnโt regained consciousness. We donโt know why. The doctors were confident sheโd wake up today. She was given anti-inflammatory treatment last night.โ
Lucas frowned deeply. โStill not awake?โ
โNoโฆ have no idea why,โ Ian replied helplessly.
Leonard, now just as anxious, stepped forward to listen more closely, hoping to get a clearer understanding of the situation himself.
