“I don’t know!” Wendy looked defiant, putting on the air of someone who had nothing to lose. She had no intention of giving in.

Seeing that, Kenneth stopped holding back. His words turned sharp, each one stabbing straight into her pride. “Fine. Don’t say anything. Either way, you’re being kicked out of this house. You’re not going to last here much longer."

“And let’s be honest, this house isn’t yours or mine to decide. They’re married. What you’re doing right now? Let’s call it what it is: being the other woman.”

“WATCH IT, KENNETH SHAWS!” Wendy snapped, her voice rising in fury as she glared at him. She was so livid she called him by name, not even bothering with “brother.”

Kenneth’s expression darkened instantly. “Did you just call me by my name?”

Wendy was trembling with anger. “You started it! You were the one being nasty first. How can you blame me?”

“And I was nasty because of the way you’ve embarrassed yourself!” Kenneth snapped back. “I came here to stop this from becoming front-page news because it’s shameful!"

“And if you care at all about protecting the Shaws family, then you’ll sit down and tell me everything that’s happened since you got to Ravenshore. Every. Last. Thing.”

The moment Wendy heard the words “Shaws family,” her entire demeanor shifted. She froze.

“What do you mean? This is my personal business. What does it have to do with the family?”

Kenneth stood, stepping closer to her, his tone cold and pressing. “You didn’t really think Lucas' threat was the only one hanging over your head, did you?”

Wendy’s eyes widened. Her lips parted, trembling faintly, and she stood frozen for several seconds before the reality finally sank in. The moment Wendy replayed Kenneth’s words in her head, her legs turned weak beneath her. She had caused all this trouble and hadn’t even realized it.

“Brother… is there still anything I can do to fix this?” Tears welled up in her eyes, and genuine fear crept into her voice.

“Of course you can fix it,” Kenneth said coldly. “You just need to tell me exactly what you did to make Lucas this furious with every single detail. No skipping anything.” He added pointedly, “And I mean everything, even the small things.”

Wendy shot to her feet, wiped her tears with the back of her hand, and nodded quickly. “Okay, I understand.”

She sat beside Kenneth on the sofa, taking a deep breath before she began to explain. “I just didn’t want to be disturbed, so I took that phone… but I never imagined it would lead to all this.”

She clutched Kenneth’s arm tightly. “Brother, what are we going to do now?” The fear in her eyes was real. Her mind was no longer filled with daydreams about winning Lucas back. Because now, she realized that if the Shaws family fell, she would be nothing. Not even worthy of standing in the same room as Lucas.
