Chapter 553

โ€œNo matter what, sheโ€™s contributed a great deal to this company. Itโ€™s only right that we pay her a visit.โ€

Tessa hadnโ€™t intended to agree at first, but after thinking it through, she had to admit he had a point.

And if one of the senior executives came along as a witness, it meant sheโ€™d have someone to back her up no matter what she said.

Wouldnโ€™t that make things even harder for Lucas to argue against later?

The smile on Tessaโ€™s face widened. โ€œHow thoughtful of you. Alright then, you can come with me."

โ€œAs for these documents, donโ€™t worry. While Iโ€™m acting as interim general manager, Iโ€™ll make sure to carry out my sisterโ€™s work responsibly.

โ€œIโ€™m part of this company, too. You donโ€™t need to treat me like an outsider. If the company suffers, I suffer as well. No one understands the importance of our interests more than I do.โ€

Her words earned nods all around.

When it came to the companyโ€™s bottom line, for once, everyone was in agreement.

After all, theyโ€™d all invested heavily.

The companyโ€™s stock meant more to them than their own lives.

Ian watched as the executive followed Tessa out the door, a gnawing unease twisting in his gut.

Something about it didnโ€™t sit right.

When the exec offered to go with her, Tessa looked almostโ€ฆ pleased.

Was this really just a hospital visit? Or did she have something else planned?

Ianโ€™s anxiety spiked. But without any way to contact Lucas, there was nothing he could do.

He was just a low-level employee. Even now, all he could do was stick to his postโ€“he couldnโ€™t just walk out.

Frustration surged in his chest.

He slipped into the bathroom and clutched his hair tightly, overwhelmed by a crushing sense of helplessness.

He hated how useless he was.

Tessa drove the executive toward the hospital.

Neither of them spoke much along the way.

Truth be told, the executive felt a little awkward.

He hadnโ€™t had much faith in Tessa at first, thought she was all talk with no real substance.

Between Aurora and Tessa, his choice was clear.

Anyone with eyes could see itโ€“heโ€™d always side with Aurora.

But the fact that he was willing to set aside the awkwardness and come along with Tessa now was entirely because of how remarkable Aurora had been.

She had taken the company to unprecedented heights.

He truly admired her drive and courage.

Even when everyone else was against her, she still stood her ground and followed through.

Thinking of that, the executive genuinely began to worry about her condition.

How could a woman so strong suddenly collapse like that?

Had the workload finally caught up to her? But that didnโ€™t seem like Aurora at all.

She was never the type to be worn down so easily.

Tessa, on the other hand, wasnโ€™t concerned with whatever was going through the executiveโ€™s mind.

All she needed was to get him to the hospital.

Once he was there, all that mattered was that heโ€™d back up whatever she said.

Beyond that, he served no real purpose.

And that, Tessa was always crystal clear about.

Just a few minutes before she reached the hospital entrance, Julian sent her a message.
