Chapter 554

"Babe, those doctors really were brought in by your dear brother-in-law."

"They went straight into Auroraโ€™s room. Judging by the way they marched in, Iโ€™m seriously worried theyโ€™re going to find something."

Tessaโ€™s heart skipped a beat when she read the message. She hadnโ€™t expected those doctors to move so fast. Just who was her sisterโ€™s man? Wasnโ€™t he supposed to be some random guy Aurora picked up outside? How could he be this capable, possibly even more impressive than Julian?

That thought alone made Tessa quicken her pace unconsciously, completely unaware that sheโ€™d left the executive behind.

The executive was caught off guard. Why had she suddenly sped up like that? He wasnโ€™t young anymore; there was no way he could keep up with her. Though frustrated, he didnโ€™t call outโ€“he simply made a silent note of it in his mind. Once they were back at the office, heโ€™d be sure to report this to the chairwoman. This girl had no sense of decorum or respect.

His irritation toward Tessa deepened, especially when compared to someone like Aurora. That contrast made it even harder to swallow. Aurora wasnโ€™t just competentโ€“she was also courteous and respectful. Every time she greeted him, it was with a warm smile that made people feel at ease. Seeing her always lifted everyoneโ€™s mood.

But Tessa was nothing like that. Even when she smiled, it felt forced, as if she were mimicking the expression without really feeling it. There was no warmth behind it. He sighed, silently hoping Aurora was alright and would be back at work soon.

With that thought, he pushed himself to walk faster, trying to catch up to Tessa before he completely lost sight of her. If he fell too far behind, he might not even know which room Aurora was in.

By the time the two of them finally reached Auroraโ€™s hospital room, they were surprised to find a crowd of foreign doctors gathered outside. Each of them wore a white coat and carried a stern, professional demeanor. They were speaking fluently in a foreign language, their discussion intense.

โ€œThis is the first time weโ€™ve seen something like this.โ€

โ€œExactly. A minor case of gastroenteritis wouldnโ€™t normally cause someone to remain unconscious for this long.โ€

โ€œThere must be something else going on beneath the surface.โ€

โ€œI understand what youโ€™re saying, but what else could be causing it?โ€

They stood at the doorway, debating back and forth, but none of them had reached a clear conclusion about Auroraโ€™s condition. Tessa glanced around, anxiety beginning to creep in as she faced the group. She couldnโ€™t let anything slip. No one could find out the truth.

The executive beside her looked just as bewildered. Who were these people? And why such a grand lineup?

As Tessa tried to walk forward, several of the white-coated doctors blocked her path.

โ€œWho are you? What do you want here?โ€

Meeting their eyes, Tessa felt a sudden wave of guilt.

โ€œIโ€™m her sister. I just came to check on her.โ€

She reminded herself of her objective. There was nothing wrong with what she was doing. She even managed to sound convincing, like she and Aurora were incredibly close.
