Chapter 561

Seeing the doctor stammer like that, Lucasโ€™ patience wore thinner by the second.

Heโ€™d already waited nearly a week. Now he was supposed to stand here while a doctor stumbled over his words?

โ€œMy time is valuable. Itโ€™s not meant to be wasted on your hesitation.โ€

The moment those words dropped, the doctor nearly fell to his knees. What kind of terrifying aura was this man giving off?

Tessa felt a chill run through her as well. The most authoritative person sheโ€™d ever known was her mother, but even Grace had never given off this kind of pressureโ€”the kind that made her want to submit without a second thought. It was terrifying.

Could this man really be just some pretty boy? Tessa found herself doubting her own assumptions again, but there was no one to confirm or deny her suspicions. All she could do was keep observing, trying to figure it out piece by piece.

Watching Lucasโ€™ harsh expression, she started to panic. What if he decided to transfer Aurora to another hospital?

The next second, the foreign doctor finally spoke. โ€œI believe the facilities here are somewhat limited. If possible, I suggest transferring Miss Aurora to a hospital overseas. I have a lab there where I can run further tests to determine why she hasnโ€™t woken up.โ€

Lucas was still processing the idea when Tessa suddenly shouted, โ€œNo!โ€

Her voice was loud and jarring, cutting through the quiet room like a blade. Everyone turned to look at her. Even Lucas was still quietly weighing the option. No one understood why Tessa had reacted so aggressively. Lucas narrowed his eyes slightly, sensing something was off.

Tessa noticed the sudden shift in attention around her and realized her outburst had been far too emotional. It was bound to raise suspicion.

She quickly composed herself and cleared her throat. โ€œNo, what I meant was maybe now isnโ€™t the best time to move the patient. When I came earlier, Auroraโ€™s attending physician mentioned this. He advised against transferring her. He said it would be better to keep her stable in one place. Moving her could overwhelm her system.โ€

Lucas didnโ€™t respond immediately, but there was a flicker in his eyes. He seemed to realize something. Was Tessa being too proactive? Her response felt a little too fast and rehearsed.

The foreign doctor nodded slowly, seeing some reason in her explanation. Still, this wasnโ€™t his home turf. He felt restricted, uncertain of how to proceed, and unsure how to face Lucasโ€™ intense scrutiny. Auroraโ€™s condition was complicated, and he couldnโ€™t offer any clear answers. He felt his confidence faltering.

Lucas turned his gaze toward the doctor, silently pressing for the truth. Feeling the weight of his stare, the doctor grew even more tense.

โ€œSheโ€ฆ she does have a point,โ€ he admitted, voice tight.

Lucasโ€™ expression darkened. So, they were stuck in this hospital, with no answers and no real progress?

Sensing the tension rise, the doctor quickly added, โ€œBut we do have another option.โ€

โ€œWhat option?โ€ Lucas finally spoke, his voice low and sharp.

The doctor exhaled in relief. Finally, a response that wasnโ€™t ice-cold silence. No one knew how close heโ€™d felt to collapsing under the pressure just moments ago.
