Hearing the doctor’s words, Tessa started to panic again. What was going on? They had all but agreed earlier, and now suddenly he had a solution? Wasn’t that a direct slap to her face? She couldn’t let that happen. No matter what, Aurora absolutely could not leave this hospital.

Quickly, while everyone else was distracted, she pulled out her phone and sent a message to Julian. She told him to bring Jackson over immediately. After all, he was Aurora’s attending physician, and even that lunatic Lucas might be more willing to listen to him. After hitting send, Tessa pasted a smile back onto her face.

The foreign doctor, meanwhile, nervously swallowed. “There is a way. If Miss Walton must be transferred abroad, she can travel with extra staff attending to her throughout the journey. As long as she’s well cared for, there shouldn’t be any complications. I’ll bring the necessary equipment with me as well.”

Hearing that, Lucas gave a small nod. It sounded reasonable. If Aurora were to go overseas, of course he’d be going with her. There was no way he would ever let her travel alone. It wasn’t even up for debate; he didn’t trust anyone else with her.

But Tessa was unraveling again, her smile barely holding. She glanced down at her phone and finally saw Julian’s reply: Got it. I’m going to get him now.

Still, she needed to stall for time. She couldn’t let them move Aurora so easily. If they transferred her, how would she carry out the next round of medication? Everything she’d worked for would fall apart. Worse, she had only just gotten her hands on those projects–she hadn’t even fully wrapped her head around the details. What, was she supposed to hand everything back to that woman now? No. Absolutely not. There was no way she would allow that to happen.

“Doctor, are you certain this method is safe?” Tessa feigned concern. “She’s my only sister. She’s given so much to the company over the years, and now that she’s sick, are you all really unwilling to let her rest?”

“This…” The foreign doctor was caught off guard by her words. He had never intended to “push” Aurora at all, but the way Tessa phrased it, it sounded like something shady was going on between them.

Hearing her remark, Kenneth and Wendy exchanged a look. Both of them saw the same shock mirrored in the other’s eyes. Neither of them had expected Tessa to speak so boldly. Right in front of Lucas, no less, she dared to be that direct, without even a hint of fear. Even though Kenneth had known Lucas for years, when speaking to him face-to-face, he still treaded carefully. He didn’t even dare make direct eye contact sometimes, especially now that they were older, Kenneth didn’t joke around with Lucas anymore. There was always that nagging worry–what if Lucas took a joke the wrong way and made it real? That kind of man didn’t need much to turn things upside down. And if Aurora really woke up, Lucas would definitely show his gratitude.

Thinking about that, Kenneth grew increasingly irritated by Tessa’s interference. He was on track to become the one who helped Lucas in his most desperate hour, and Tessa was getting in the way at every turn. What exactly was she playing at? Wasn’t she supposed to be on Aurora’s side? Why, even now, was she still trying to block her road to recovery?
