“Why?” Wendy looked at her brother, confused. She didn’t understand why he was stopping her from intervening now, when this was the perfect opportunity to act. If they figured this out, wouldn’t Lucas look at them with even more respect? Wouldn’t that just make him owe the Shaws family even more?

Kenneth sighed. “You still don’t understand men. If Tessa is really behind this, then it’s Lucas’ job to handle it himself.”

“Why does it have to be like that?” Wendy scratched her head, completely puzzled by the strange dynamics between men. What was this obsession with competition? What did it even mean? She just didn’t get it, but she was curious. What did these men really care about? Did they find it fun to constantly compare themselves to one another?

Seeing Wendy’s confused expression, Kenneth couldn’t help but roll his eyes. “Alright, with your mindset, it’s better you don’t overthink things. Instead of obsessing over all this, you should focus on what to do next.”

Kenneth’s face grew serious. “If it was Tessa, then Lucas will enjoy avenging Aurora himself. That’s just how men are.”

Wendy scratched her head again, still unsure what to say. She hadn’t really dealt with men, especially not someone like Lucas. Understanding what was going on in their heads was even more foreign to her.

For Wendy, all of this felt so unreal. Before, she had always centered her life around Lucas. In fact, she had hardly interacted with other men, dedicating herself entirely to him. Now, she didn’t even know how to answer Kenneth’s question because she honestly had no idea. At that moment, Wendy even felt a bit sorry for herself. She had followed Lucas all her life, and now, here she was, having barely talked to any other men.

Kenneth, sensing Wendy’s feelings, patted her head gently. “Alright, next time, I’ll take you out to broaden your horizons. Don’t overthink it. Since Ravenshore isn’t working out anymore, why don’t we just go back abroad?”

“Okay.” Wendy nodded reluctantly. She realized she didn’t have many options left. Going abroad seemed like the only choice. As for everything else, she didn’t even want to think about it. She had never really been independent from her parents. That was why she had grown up so spoiled and pampered. But now, deep down, Wendy felt like it was time for a change.
