Chapter 607

Grace quickly turned to Arnold. โ€œArnold, go grab those strawberries from the kitchen for Megan.โ€

โ€œOf course.โ€ With a nod, Arnold headed off to rinse the fruit.

Megan sat down beside Grace, her expression full of concern. โ€œMadam Grace, howโ€™s Aurora doing now?โ€

โ€œI visited her once at the hospital, but she still hadnโ€™t woken up. Has anything changed since then?โ€

Deep down, Megan already knew the answer. If Aurora had regained consciousness, she wouldโ€™ve reached out right away. But after all this time, Meganโ€™s phone had remained silent. That alone said it allโ€“there was no need for further explanation.

At her question, Graceโ€™s face visibly tensed with sorrow. Seeing her reaction, Megan felt her heart sink. What was going on? Why did Grace look so heartbroken? Had something serious happened to Aurora that she hadnโ€™t been told? The thought filled Megan with guilt. She felt like a terrible friend. After everything, she still didnโ€™t know what was happening with Aurora.

Sensing her distress, Grace finally opened up. โ€œAuroraโ€™s overseas now. I donโ€™t know much beyond that.โ€

Megan sat up straight, startled. โ€œMadam Grace, why didnโ€™t you tell me something this important earlier?โ€ Her voice was thick with worry.

After all, the doctors here had strongly advised against moving Aurora or transferring her to another hospital, yet Lucas insisted on it anyway. What if something went wrong later? Megan couldnโ€™t understand his reckless decision. That wasnโ€™t like her cousin at all. Heโ€™d always seemed so careful and devoted when it came to Aurora. No matter how she looked at it, she couldnโ€™t believe he would make such a rash, thoughtless choice.

But Grace was firm. โ€œThatโ€™s what happened. He hasnโ€™t called me since, so I really donโ€™t know whatโ€™s going on over there. I mean, sheโ€™s my daughter. How could I not be worried?โ€

Megan could see the concern etched on Graceโ€™s face, and her own anxiety deepened. Aurora wasnโ€™t just any friend; she was her only childhood best friend. Theyโ€™d grown up together, inseparable since they were kids. Now that Aurora was in such a condition, how could she possibly stay put?

โ€œMadam Grace, donโ€™t worry. What happens to Aurora matters to me too. Iโ€™ll head overseas first thing tomorrow to see her.โ€

Graceโ€™s eyes lit up in surprise. She looked at Megan, stunned. โ€œMeganโ€ฆ are you serious?โ€

โ€œOf course I am!โ€ Meeting her gaze, Megan felt a rush of pride swell in her chest. She wasnโ€™t a child anymore. She could step up and take responsibility now. She patted her chest with resolve. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Madam Grace. Iโ€™ll find her. We grew up together. Of course Iโ€™m worried. Once I see her, Iโ€™ll finally be able to breathe easy.โ€

Grace, moved to tears, gently patted Meganโ€™s hand, her eyes glistening. โ€œYouโ€™re a good girl. Thank you, sweetheart.โ€

โ€œNo need to thank me!โ€ With that, Megan stood up, ready to leave and start packing immediately.
