Chapter 607
Grace quickly turned to Arnold. โArnold, go grab those strawberries from the kitchen for Megan.โ
โOf course.โ With a nod, Arnold headed off to rinse the fruit.
Megan sat down beside Grace, her expression full of concern. โMadam Grace, howโs Aurora doing now?โ
โI visited her once at the hospital, but she still hadnโt woken up. Has anything changed since then?โ
Deep down, Megan already knew the answer. If Aurora had regained consciousness, she wouldโve reached out right away. But after all this time, Meganโs phone had remained silent. That alone said it allโthere was no need for further explanation.
At her question, Graceโs face visibly tensed with sorrow. Seeing her reaction, Megan felt her heart sink. What was going on? Why did Grace look so heartbroken? Had something serious happened to Aurora that she hadnโt been told? The thought filled Megan with guilt. She felt like a terrible friend. After everything, she still didnโt know what was happening with Aurora.
Sensing her distress, Grace finally opened up. โAuroraโs overseas now. I donโt know much beyond that.โ
Megan sat up straight, startled. โMadam Grace, why didnโt you tell me something this important earlier?โ Her voice was thick with worry.
After all, the doctors here had strongly advised against moving Aurora or transferring her to another hospital, yet Lucas insisted on it anyway. What if something went wrong later? Megan couldnโt understand his reckless decision. That wasnโt like her cousin at all. Heโd always seemed so careful and devoted when it came to Aurora. No matter how she looked at it, she couldnโt believe he would make such a rash, thoughtless choice.
But Grace was firm. โThatโs what happened. He hasnโt called me since, so I really donโt know whatโs going on over there. I mean, sheโs my daughter. How could I not be worried?โ
Megan could see the concern etched on Graceโs face, and her own anxiety deepened. Aurora wasnโt just any friend; she was her only childhood best friend. Theyโd grown up together, inseparable since they were kids. Now that Aurora was in such a condition, how could she possibly stay put?
โMadam Grace, donโt worry. What happens to Aurora matters to me too. Iโll head overseas first thing tomorrow to see her.โ
Graceโs eyes lit up in surprise. She looked at Megan, stunned. โMeganโฆ are you serious?โ
โOf course I am!โ Meeting her gaze, Megan felt a rush of pride swell in her chest. She wasnโt a child anymore. She could step up and take responsibility now. She patted her chest with resolve. โDonโt worry, Madam Grace. Iโll find her. We grew up together. Of course Iโm worried. Once I see her, Iโll finally be able to breathe easy.โ
Grace, moved to tears, gently patted Meganโs hand, her eyes glistening. โYouโre a good girl. Thank you, sweetheart.โ
โNo need to thank me!โ With that, Megan stood up, ready to leave and start packing immediately.
