If anything ever happened to Aurora, there was no way she’d let it slide, even if she was genuinely afraid of her cousin. But so what? At the end of the day, her best friend mattered more. She could have a dozen cousins, but there was only one Aurora.

Megan, never the cautious type, didn’t realize someone was already following her.

Tessa and Julian, each dragging their suitcase, hid around the corner at the airport. They had already checked Megan’s flight and were planning to follow her abroad. Julian sounded uneasy. “Tessa, do you really think we’ll be able to find out where Aurora is once we get there?”

“Of course. As long as Megan’s there, what’s there to worry about? Just don’t lose sight of her,” she replied.

Julian pressed his lips into a tight line, still feeling uneasy. “But even if we make it overseas, can we actually get close to the hospital she’s in?" He laid out what had been bothering him. "And let’s be real, this isn’t like back home. We don’t know anyone over there.”

Tessa glanced at Julian, irritated by his hesitancy. “Oh, come on, we’re not even there yet and you’re already being negative?” She snapped, “We haven’t even started and you’re already shooting down our chances?” What annoyed her most was Julian’s timid, small-minded attitude. It was the same thing that had made her question, again and again whether marrying him was even a good idea. After all, marriage was supposed to be for life. Tessa wasn’t about to gamble her entire future on a spineless loser.

That would be a massive loss for her, wouldn’t it? When it came to looks and family background, she was among the top in all of Ravenshore. As for Julian, well, he’d need to get in line.

With that thought, Tessa lifted her chin even higher, her whole demeanor brimming with arrogance. Julian saw how composed and confident she looked, assumed she had everything under control, and held his tongue.

“Alright, baby, I’ll follow your lead. Whatever you tell me to do, I’ll do it.”

Hearing that, Tessa felt a bit more reassured. Julian suddenly seemed a little more tolerable.
