Megan glanced at Leonard and the suitcase beside him, looking puzzled. “What are you doing?”

Tessa raised an eyebrow. She hadn’t seen this man before. He looked completely unfamiliar, not even the faintest impression. Could he be one of Megan’s friends? But no, that didn’t seem right either. He didn’t act like someone close to her. Even when they spoke, he maintained a polite social distance. Tessa’s heart filled with doubt, a vague discomfort settling in.

She couldn’t pinpoint exactly what felt off, but it was there. If he wasn’t a close friend of Megan’s, there was only one explanation–he was here for Aurora. Tessa couldn’t think of any other possibility. And really, it was the most obvious one. She knew Megan’s social circle well enough.

Julian noticed Tessa staring, and jealousy stirred in his chest. “Baby, is that guy really that good-looking?”

Startled, Tessa turned and met the faint smirk tugging at Julian’s lips, his eyes laced with unmistakable jealousy. His tone gave him away–he was clearly jealous.

“Oh, come on. Why are you like that?” Tessa couldn’t help but laugh. She’d only looked at the guy a few times, and this man was already getting jealous? Clearly, she’d need to be more careful around him going forward.

Julian huffed, his voice full of petty pride. “Well, I don’t care. You’re my future wife. Since you already have me, why are you still checking out other guys?”

Seeing Julian so jealous actually pleased Tessa deep down. It meant she still had charm and still held power over men. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be so bitter about it. If she couldn’t even make a man jealous, it meant she’d truly failed as a woman. She must be so dull that she couldn’t even spark a hint of possessiveness. On that point, Tessa knew she had every right to be confident. That was why Julian’s reaction felt so satisfying. As long as he was jealous, she could work with that. It meant she still mattered to him and he couldn’t live without her.

Tessa reached out and scratched Julian’s chin like she was teasing a kitten. “Alright, you know I only have one man, and that’s you.”

“Then why were you staring at that guy like that?”

Tessa chuckled. “I’ve just never seen him before. Megan’s circle is practically squeaky clean. I know it well. So yeah, I was just curious. I’ve never seen that guy around.”

Hearing that, Julian felt a lot better. “Okay, baby, now that you’ve explained it like that, I feel more at ease.” He leaned his head on Tessa’s shoulder. “You know I’m just afraid of losing you.”

A small smile appeared on Tessa’s face. She didn’t mind Julian like this. “Alright, don’t worry. I’m not going anywhere.”

Julian rested against her, a strange look flashing across his face. If Tessa ever found out the truth and learned about Lily, she’d explode. This man was the ultimate hypocrite. He had so many affairs, even going as far as keeping a woman captive.
