Chapter 639
Megan stood outside, completely stunned as she watched people actually nodding along. โSeriously, Leonard, are you seeing this? These people are completely unreasonable.โ
Leonard was just as surprised, his expression turning cold. โThis time, itโs because your cousin has the influence to get the director involved.โ
โBut what if the director wasnโt here? Or worse, what if this had happened to someone without any connections?โ
Megan fell silent.
Leonard had a point.
If this had happened to an ordinary person, would they have stood a chance?
And yet, even now, these people still didnโt seem to realize they were in the wrong.
That part genuinely shocked Megan.
Even the director looked surprised.
He had been ready to leave, but now, thanks to their shamelessness, he decided to stay.
Some in the crowd might have agreed with the man who spoke up, but none dared to actually back him.
Hadnโt they already seen what happened earlier?
If that man really had strong ties with the director, who among them would dare cross the hospital again?
There were some people who still had concerns and common sense.
The tall poppy always gets cut down. That old saying had never felt more fitting.
All eyes were on the man who had spoken up first. It couldnโt have been more obvious.
Even he seemed to realize it.
He started off looking embarrassed, then shifted into forced confidence.
In his mind, the hospital was a business, and as paying customers, they were owed a service.
With that thought, he began to feel justified.
After all, they hadnโt done anything that terrible.
Why keep making a big deal out of it?
The more he convinced himself, the more righteous he feltโso much so that he even began to swell with pride.
He shouted again, โThis is your problem to begin with! What, now you want people like us to take the blame? This whole hospital is rotten to the core. Places like this should be shut down for good!โ
By the time he finished, the man was completely worked up.
He even looked like he was about to hurl something at the director.
With a single glance from the director, the bodyguards immediately moved in.
They had been on standby the whole time, and now that they had a reason, they were more than ready to act.
As they restrained him, the man kept yelling, โWhat the hell are you people doing? This is your mess to begin with! Why does it suddenly look like youโve done nothing wrong?โ
The truth was, he hadnโt said much about Lucas or Aurora at all.
But luck hadnโt been on his side.
Heโd been shoved to the front of the crowd earlier, and during the photo capture, his face had ended up front and center.
That alone made him stand out enough to be remembered by the director.
Now, he was being forced to discharge.
But there was nothing to be doneโsome things were simply beyond anyoneโs control.
The director gave a cold snort, clearly annoyed. โIf youโve got that much to say, why donโt you take it up with the police? Our place is too small to accommodate someone like you.โ
Then he turned to the rest of the crowd, gesturing to the big screen. โAs for the rest of you, if youโve got something to say, maybe take a good look at that screen first.
โAlso, I believe anyone with a shred of conscience wouldnโt choose to stay here any longer.โ
