In Millford, she was always at someone else’s mercy. There was no one familiar around, no one she could truly count on.

When Hector noticed Tessa had gone quiet, he knew she had given in. Though he found it a little odd, he didn’t press further. It was her choice. Either way, the matter was finally settled, and his task was complete.

There was no point dragging this out any longer—he still had other assignments to attend to. No use wasting more time.

Zack also felt relieved. At last, he didn’t have to deal with Tessa anymore. Lately, every time he interacted with her, it felt like his brain just didn’t work right, which wasn’t how it started at all. In the beginning, he simply admired her, even pitied her a little. But somewhere along the line, he’d fallen into her trap. Nothing had gone the way he thought it would. Forget it. It was better to send her off before she caused any more delays.

But none of them noticed the fleeting shadow that crossed Julian’s face in the corner. His fists clenched slowly, his eyes locked onto Tessa with a deep, burning hatred. He wasn’t going to let her off that easily.

And just like that, both Tessa and Julian were sent back to Ravenshore to be tried under local law.

Meanwhile, Aurora and Lucas had finally returned to normal life. They were living together in the villa again, no longer sleeping in separate rooms. Now that Wendy was gone, the air in the room felt noticeably fresher to Aurora. Still, she hadn’t told her mother she was back.

Lucas wrapped an arm around her shoulders and asked gently, “Why haven’t you told your mom you’re back?” He honestly didn’t understand. Back when they were in Millford, the two of them had gotten along quite well. Their conversations had been warm and easy.

But Aurora didn’t answer him directly. She kept flipping through the documents in her hand.

“I’ve been away from Walton Corporation for a month, and too much has changed. I need to catch up quickly.”

Lucas immediately understood–she was deliberately avoiding the question. Fine, he wouldn’t push her. It was up to her. There was no point forcing the issue. That wouldn’t change anything.

Still, she wanted to head back to work so soon… Lucas hesitated before speaking, then gently took her hand. “How about waiting a couple more days before going back?” He just couldn’t bear to see her pushing herself so hard, especially when she had only just recovered. “I’m worried your body won’t be able to handle it.”

Hearing that, Aurora set the papers down and looked at Lucas seriously. “I understand your concern,” she said softly, brushing his cheek with her hand. “But I’m the general manager of Walton Corporation, and the youngest heiress of the Walton family. My sister is… well, and Mom’s getting older. So, it’s my responsibility to take this on.”

Lucas pressed his lips together. He looked at her determined expression and didn’t know what else to say. But he had to admit that Aurora had her reasons and burdens.
