Chapter 938

Her expression was so exaggerated that it made the entire scene feel hilariously playful. Aurora and Lucas exchanged a glance, each catching the smile in the otherโ€™s eyes.

Watching Aurora interact so naturally with her team, Lucas truly felt happy for her.

A subordinate who could joke so freely meant the leader had to be someone genuinely good.

Otherwise, no one would dare speak that way.

Everyone clearly knew Aurora wasnโ€™t the type to take offense, which was why they dared to tease her like this.

And that was exactly why the company atmosphere remained so light and positive.

The whole team shared one goal: to make the company better and stronger.

Aurora ruffled the soft hair on the receptionistโ€™s head, her voice laced with affection. โ€œAlright now, Iโ€™m back, arenโ€™t I?โ€

โ€œMiss Aurora, I was seriously worried about you. Are you okay?โ€

The receptionistโ€™s voice wavered, like she was about to burst into tears.

โ€œFor a whole month, without your stunning face, my days were so dull and colorless.โ€

She couldnโ€™t help but go on with her complaints. โ€œPeople were saying all sorts of things. Some said your health was failing, or that you had a falling-out with Madam Grace and werenโ€™t coming backโ€ฆ

โ€œSome even said youโ€™d eloped with someoneโ€ฆ there were rumors flying around, all kinds of them.โ€

By the end, her voice had grown quieter and quieter.

Because only then did she suddenly realize that Lucas was still standing right there.

And sheโ€™d just claimed, right in front of him, that Aurora had eloped with someone else.

She couldnโ€™t believe she actually said that out loud.

The moment the words left her mouth, she slapped herself in panic.

Before Aurora could even stop her, she was already apologizing through a near-breakdown.

โ€œIโ€™m so sorry, Miss Aurora. That was totally out of line. I was just too happy and got carried awayโ€“you know how I am.โ€

Aurora waved her hand, shaking her head.

โ€œItโ€™s fine, itโ€™s fine. I know youโ€“youโ€™re just honest to a fault. Donโ€™t worry, Iโ€™m back now. Just ignore everything from before. All those rumors were just jokes,โ€ Aurora said with a light twirl.

โ€œLook at me, Iโ€™m perfectly fine, arenโ€™t I? So why bother dwelling on all that nonsense?โ€

The receptionist, seeing Aurora so radiant and full of energy, gave a firm nod. โ€œAlright, got it.

โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Miss Aurora. Iโ€™ll guard the front desk with my life. You can leave the image of this lobby to me. Iโ€™ve got it covered.โ€

Aurora patted her on the shoulder with mock solemnity. โ€œThatโ€™s the spirit, Mandy. I believe in you!

โ€œNow go ahead and keep busy. I need to head up to the office.โ€

The receptionist watched her leave, calling out, โ€œAlright, got it!โ€

As she stared at the pair walking side by side, her heart filled with envy.

When would she ever meet a man like that?

Still, no matter who he was, none of them could match the looks of Auroraโ€™s man.

As long as he was decent and treated her well, sheโ€™d be content with someone like that.

Besides, she absolutely adored working at Walton Corporation.

Where else could she find a job with such a lively, uplifting atmosphere?

If she could, sheโ€™d gladly stay here foreverโ€“work till the day she died.

It wasnโ€™t until their silhouettes disappeared into the elevator that she finally snapped out of her daze.
