Chapter 946
Over the past month, if Aurora hadn’t woken up in time, would Walton Corporation have been swallowed up by Lomt Enterprises? And now Joseph even dared to set his sights on their joint project with Vanguard Group? What a ridiculous fantasy.
“Aurora, don’t rush. We’ll need to take this step by step,” Lucas said as he placed a hand on her shoulder, signaling her to stay calm. If she acted impulsively now, it would be falling right into Joseph’s trap. That much was obvious.
Aurora took a deep breath. She understood what Lucas meant. She gently patted the back of his hand to show that she got it. At this point, she wasn’t foolish. If she still couldn’t see through Joseph’s intentions, then Walton Corporation would be nothing but a joke.
Tan lowered his gaze, avoiding the couple’s exchange. From the look of it, Aurora hadn’t lost much weight. It seemed her husband had taken excellent care of her. That gave the employees peace of mind.
At first, seeing Aurora and Lucas together, everyone thought they looked like a perfect match. But they all worried–would a man that good-looking truly treat her well? Now, Ian had his answer. Even without words, Lucas' presence and demeanor made it clear. A man who truly loved his wife always stood tall, and his character could be trusted. Staying by Aurora’s side without giving up for a whole month had been the clearest proof. Ian understood this deeply. Because he respected Aurora, he now held even greater admiration for Lucas.
Aurora nodded at Lucas, showing that she understood everything. She was absolutely not going to fall into Joseph’s hands over this. That man’s little schemes–she could see right through them. Still, every issue would have to be handled one by one. Right now, the best move was to make her return known to the outside world. That alone would be enough to make others back off.
Aurora turned to Ian. “Alright, you can leave now. I’ll go through these project files one at a time.”
Ian gave a slight nod to show he understood. “Miss Aurora, I’ll take my leave then. If you need anything, just call me.”
Aurora smiled back. “I will.”
Once Ian left, only Aurora and Lucas remained in the room. Lucas looked at her–clearly overwhelmed–and silently cursed Desmond all over again.
Meanwhile, over at Vanguard Group, Desmond was sneezing again and again. He rubbed his nose, staring at the files in front of him, feeling oddly unsettled. He muttered under his breath, “What’s going on? Is someone thinking about me?” He glanced at his phone. There were no messages. Then what was this uneasy feeling? Could it be that Lucas was unhappy with him about something?
Desmond rubbed his arms, trying to calm the goosebumps on his skin. Whatever–maybe he was just overthinking things. He needed to get back to work. Now that Lucas had returned, there’d be plenty of things for him to review. By then, slacking off wouldn’t be an option. Desmond sighed, feeling like his luck really had run out.
