Chapter 132

Lucas was afraid that if he delayed even a moment, Jayden would be in a sappy mood and act against his family. Jayden turned to Isabella with a smile, his voice gentle. "Bella," he said, "if you ever need anything, just let me know."

Aiden and the others exchanged puzzled looks, wondering if Jayden knew Isabella. Everyone in the industry knew that although Jayden seemed friendly and easygoing, he had never treated any girl like this.

Isabella noticed everyone’s reactions, and though she wasn’t fond of Jayden, she couldn’t deny he had just helped her. She gave a faint smile and said softly, “Okay.”

Lucas carefully handed the signed contract to Jayden, smiling ingratiatingly, saying, “Mr. Logue, please take a look.” He glanced at Isabella, puzzled about her relationship with Jayden.

Jayden took the contract, his sharp eyes scanning through it. Once he was sure there were no errors, he turned and handed it to Isabella.

As Isabella took the contract, the door to the private room swung open. Everyone’s eyes turned to the door. Jenny walked in with a bright smile but paused in confusion when she saw the room full of people, wondering what was happening.

Aiden and the others, all well-known figures in the entertainment industry, decided not to linger when they saw Jenny, a stranger, come in. They exchanged looks and quietly left the room.

Jayden looked at Isabella and said softly, “Bella, I’m leaving now.” Before Isabella could react, he had already started following Aiden and the others.

Jenny stood there confused, frowning as she watched them leave. She thought, “Why do these people look somewhat familiar!”

But when Jenny saw Lucas’s face, swollen as if he had been beaten, she was shocked and exclaimed, “Mr. Smith, what happened to you?”

Seeing Isabella standing calmly to the side, Jenny understood. She yelled angrily at Isabella, “Isabella, how could you treat Mr. Smith like this? I’m going to fire you!”

Jenny thought, ‘Mr. Smith is the design department’s major client. If this deal is lost, not only is the year-end bonus gone, but I might also get fired. I have just managed to wait out Emily’s term and climb up to the deputy director position. Getting fired now is not an option!’

Jenny pointed angrily at Isabella and yelled, “You’re finished. How will you explain treating a client like this to the manager?”

Lucas panicked, worried that Jenny’s words would reach Jayden’s ears. He raised his hand to stop Jenny from speaking further.

But just as Jayden reached the door, he suddenly stopped, turning back with a cold, stern look at Jenny.

In that instant, Jenny was stunned. Jayden’s chiseled, handsome face, starry eyes, defined brows, and prominent nose were all too familiar to Jenny. She recognized him.

Jenny’s eyes widened in shock. She might have screamed aloud if she hadn’t covered her mouth in time. Jenny screamed inside. Why is Jayden here? I am a huge fan of Jayden!

Jenny was panicking inside; Jayden must have heard her earlier outburst. She thought, ‘Oh no, the first time I met Jayden, I left a bad impression on him!’

Jenny’s face was pale as she frantically waved her hands and explained, “Jayden, it’s not what you just heard. I’m not usually aggressive; it’s just that she went too far and shouldn’t have laid hands on our company’s clients.”

Jenny thought, ‘It’s all Isabella’s fault. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t have embarrassed myself in front of Jayden.’

Isabella crossed her arms, her eyes calm as she mockingly told Jenny, “You’re good at passing the blame. You know Mr. Smith’s preferences, yet you left me to order food and took so long to return. What was that about?”

Isabella thought, Does Jenny actually think she can blame everything on me? She is part of Ivana’s group. How would Jayden handle this?

Instinctively, Jenny glanced at Jayden, feeling extremely anxious, and retorted, “You’re talking nonsense!” She didn’t want Jayden to find out about those things.

Jayden’s expression turned grim as he recalled finding the door bolted from the inside, clearly done on purpose. He thought, This woman dared to set up Isabella with another man!

Jayden looked icily at Jenny and said coldly, “Then why did you lock the door when you left?”

Jenny was caught off-guard by the question, stammering. “I–I didn’t.” But her explanation was utterly unconvincing.

Jayden ignored Jenny’s explanation and continued with a warning. “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re planning. Did you consider the consequences of going after my people?”

Everyone present was stunned, thinking, “What? His people?”

Isabella frowned slightly and looked at Jayden with some displeasure. She thought, Doesn’t he find it disgusting to say that now? Didn’t he use to avoid these things? When we were dating, he wouldn’t even make it public. So why is he like this now that we’ve broken up? Is it just because I am Queenie? How ironic it is.

Jenny’s face turned pale instantly. She stared at Isabella and Jayden in shock, her voice trembling with disbelief, saying, “You, you two…”

Jenny thought, ‘No way! Jayden is adored by all the fangirls! How could he be involved with that woman Isabella?’

Lucas was even more incredulous, his gaze shifting back and forth between Isabella and Jayden. Although he had his doubts before, now that his suspicions were confirmed, he couldn’t help but be astonished.

Lucas wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. He thought, Thankfully, I did nothing to Isabella. Or what would have been the consequences? I can’t even imagine!

Lucas subconsciously took a quick glance at Isabella, thinking, “She’s really quite beautiful. If only there were a chance…”

He pushed those thoughts aside, stepped forward, and quickly diffused the tension with a cheerful laugh. He said, “This is all a misunderstanding; it is my fault for being so reckless.”

Lucas clenched his teeth, thinking that once Isabella was no longer Jayden’s favorite, he would teach her a lesson. If he didn’t settle this score, the rage inside him would never fade.

Jenny was speechless as Lucas seemed indifferent and wouldn’t investigate the matter. She thought, ‘Doesn’t that mean this wretch will go unpunished?’

Isabella stood up, her cold gaze sweeping over the people in the room. She said, “Since the contract is signed, I’m not staying for dinner.” She turned around and left with her things.

Jayden watched Isabella with some concern and quickly said, “Bella, let me take you home.”

Isabella hesitated. She turned to Jayden and shook her head in refusal. She said, “No need, you should stay and enjoy the gathering with your friends. Leaving now wouldn’t be right.”

If Jayden hadn’t helped her today, Isabella wouldn’t have paid him attention. The only reason she replied to Jayden was purely out of politeness.

Jayden was a bit surprised. His gaze softened as he looked at Isabella; it seemed his help had touched her, making her more considerate.

Taking a step closer, Jayden gently ruffled Isabella’s hair. His eyes were filled with affection as he said, “Alright then, next time… let’s go together.”

Isabella instinctively stepped back to avoid Jayden’s hand and answered in a calm tone. “Okay.” She turned and walked out of the room.

Jenny stared intently at Isabella’s back, her fists clenched tightly, jealousy driving her nearly insane. She thought, “Why is Jayden being so gentle with Isabella? She’s just the abandoned daughter of the Stout family. Why!”

Jayden thought Isabella left in embarrassment. A small smile appeared on his lips. He felt quite pleased, thinking, “There is hope for Isabella to help with the script.”

Jenny looked anxiously at Jayden. Not willing to give up, she said, “Jayden, I…” However, before she could finish speaking, she felt the coldness radiating from Jayden, and the smile she had forced instantly froze.

Jayden completely ignored Jenny and walked straight out of the room.

Just moments ago, full of smiles, Lucas’s face turned serious. He looked at Jenny and said coldly, “Is this how your Stour Group treats its clients?”
