Chapter 184

Kerry set down his cup and looked at Celine, closely examining her features. His eyes suddenly brightened, and he genuinely exclaimed, “Not bad at all!”

Kerry instantly became excited, especially by those clear eyes of hers, which seemed untouched by the world. Just one look, and it felt like rediscovering the sensation of first love. He looked at Celine and asked, “Can you smile for me? Give me an unforgettable glance of a dream lover.”

Even though Kerry’s words were rather vague, Celine immediately understood what he meant. She took a deep breath to calm her emotions, slowly lifted her head, and gave a slight smile. The beauty in her gaze seemed to strike right at James’s heart. Just one look, and it was unforgettable.

Kerry immediately slapped the table. His face was full of excitement as he said, “Great, that’s wonderful! I’m really looking forward to this now!”

There are so few actors who are both attractive and versatile. Standing where she was, Celine felt much of her nervousness fade, feeling a little more courageous than before. She was a bit embarrassed by Kerry’s praise and could only stand awkwardly to the side.

Luna leaned back in her chair, arms crossed, looking at Kerry with some pride. “I picked her,” she said. She always had a keen eye for talent and would never choose someone who wasn’t up to par.

Even Patrick, who was standing nearby, nodded repeatedly and said, “Indeed, quite impressive. I wonder what agency she’s from?”

Luna glanced sideways at Patrick and bluntly interrupted, “Don’t even think about poaching her; she’s under my protection.” If Henry, a penny-pincher, signed Celine, he’d end up exploiting her.

Patrick, caught in the act, didn’t feel embarrassed at all. Instead, he just chuckled, rubbed his nose, and continued waiting for the audition, sitting comfortably in his chair.

At this moment, Kerry’s eyes were full of anticipation, yet there was also worry. Since this was a big production, it was crucial that her acting could handle the demands of the role. He picked up the script from the table and, while flipping through it, said, “I’ll choose a scene for you to perform on the spot.” Only in this way could her real skills be shown.

Although Celine was nervous, she nodded in agreement, while Luna sat leisurely to the side, clearly having no intention of getting involved. Kerry pointed to the script on the table and said directly, “This scene here. Take a look, and I’ll act alongside you.” Luna glanced at the script. This was the pivotal scene—the turning point where the supporting character becomes the main character’s enemy.

They face off at the edge of a cliff, and the supporting role stabs the heroine in the chest with a sword. Her actions are brutal but filled with inner turmoil. The constant pressure has driven her to madness, pushing her over the edge.

Chapter 181

This scene is really difficult. Performing it well could turn an actor into a legend, but performing it poorly could lead to widespread criticism. There’s no room for error.

Lana’s lips twitched. She just knew he would choose this scene. Celine took the script, and her grip instinctively tightened when she saw the scene that Kerry had chosen. She had read the script last night, so she knew how important this scene was. The calm she had felt started to turn into nervousness again.

Luna knew the pressure Celine was under and tried to comfort her by saying, “Celine, just immerse yourself in it. If you were her, how would you show your emotions? You’ve got a minute to steady yourself, okay?”

Celine was the first person to make Luna speak so gently. Kerry sat there with his mouth wide open, thinking. Why had she changed her ways?

Who exactly is this Celine? How can she get the hot-headed Luna to become a gentle mentor? It is like seeing the sun rise in the west.

Celine nodded at Luna. Patrick was quietly observing from the side, making plans in his mind to look into Celine’s background. She appeared like an innocent college girl, but he couldn’t shake the feeling there was more to her.

Time was up. Holding the script, Celine lifted her head to look at Luna and the others, her demeanor calm and collected. She said firmly, “I’m ready.”

Kerry got up and walked over to Celine. He didn’t say anything; he just gestured for her to start. In that moment, Celine’s gaze suddenly changed. She was no longer timid or filled with fear and anxiety. Instead, her eyes were cold and steady. She stood up straight, and the aura around her instantly became fierce and sharp.

At this moment, Celine had fully transformed into her character, Flavia Cramer, opposing the character temporarily played by Kerry, Kaley Garcia. A fierce determination appeared in her eyes. Using the script as a sword, she ruthlessly pierced Kaley’s heart.

Kaley tightly grasped the sword, her eyes full of disbelief, and she asked in deep resentment, “Why? Why did you turn on me? We were best friends!”

Flavia’s lips curled into a mocking smile as she murmured, “Friends?” She took two steps forward without releasing her grip on the sword’s hilt. Her other hand softly touched the blade, and blood flowed slowly from her fingertips, staining the sword and blending with Kaley’s blood.

Flavia looked up, her eyes blazing with hatred. She shouted, “When I begged you to save my family, did ‘friends’ mean anything to you? When I pleaded for you to cure my poison and you ignored me, did you remember we were friends?” Immediately, she burst into a fit of insane laughter. “You’re not worthy of using that word!”

Kaley shook her head, tears streaming down her face as she looked at Flavia. She desperately explained, “It’s not like that. Listen to me…”

“Just die.” Flavia unexpectedly softened her voice, interrupting Kaley. Her words, though quietly spoken, were chillingly indifferent and deeply heart-wrenching.

Chapter 184

There is no greater sorrow than a heart that has died; that’s pretty much how it feels. Flavia directly struck Kaley on the shoulder with her palm, and distantly her body fell off the cliff like a kite with a broken string.

Flavia stood at the top of the cliff, quietly watching ahead. She had gotten her revenge; she should’ve felt satisfied, yet her face showed only despair and numbness, a sign of hopelessness towards the world. Not a single tear was shed all along, yet it made one’s heart ache.

Luna was stunned. She had thought Celine would portray this scene with intense emotion, as actors usually rely on that. Intense emotional clashes can often create sparks. But Celine chose a different approach, making it even more heartbreaking. Even though she was the one who killed the heroine by pushing her off the cliff, everyone inexplicably felt sorry for her. Her ability to interpret it is quite impressive.

Kerry snapped out of the acting mood with a shout, “Holy crap, where did you find such a treasure?” He jumped up from the ground and walked over to Luna with excitement all over his face.

Luna snapped back too, turned her lips into a confident smile, and said, “Trust my judgment, it’s never wrong!” This result exceeded her expectations. Kerry gave her a thumbs up sincerely; no words were needed.

Patrick nodded repeatedly; he had seen many actors perform in this circle, but only a few could handle such complex emotions so well. When Celine snapped out of the story, she felt so exhausted that she almost couldn’t stand.
