Chapter 40
A woman in a tank top and denim shorts—her curvy figure accentuated—stood amidst the crowd. Long, wavy hair cascaded to her waist, partially obscured by sunglasses that revealed only her sexy red lips. Despite the disguise, Luna recognized her instantly.
Her eyes lit up. “Luna? What are you doing here?”
Shawn looked up and spotted Isabella. Without hesitation, Isabella ripped off her sunglasses, her eyes sparkling. “Oh my god, Isabella?!” Shawn exclaimed.
She dashed over and hugged Isabella tightly, her face beaming. Isabella patted her back, smiling broadly. She’d never expected to see her best friend here at Shawn's.
As they pulled apart, Luna frowned. “What are you doing here?”
Shawn, clearly surprised, added, “Luna, you know each other? This is Dr. Isabella, the wonderful doctor I invited to help your cousin.”
Luna’s mind raced. “Wonderful doctor? Uncle, are you joking?”
“My best friend is a doctor?” Luna couldn't believe it, but Shawn's serious expression confirmed it. Leaning closer to Isabella, she whispered, “Wait, are you really a doctor?”
Isabella chuckled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. “They call me that, but I’m just a regular doctor.” She, too, was surprised to learn Shawn was Luna's uncle.
Luna’s eyes widened. “Why didn’t you tell me? How could you hide this from your best friend?”
Isabella chuckled awkwardly. “I just never brought it up.”
“No! You’ve been hiding it!” Luna pouted playfully.
Isabella laughed. “Okay, fine! Ten percent off for you from now on.”
“Ten percent?” Luna exclaimed, grabbing Isabella’s cheeks. George, watching with amusement, snickered. Isabella squirmed as Luna huffed, “Most people treat their best friends for free! Are you even a true friend?”
Laughter filled the room. Everyone loved Luna’s fiery, easygoing personality.
Cheryl stepped forward. “Alright, alright. Let’s eat first and talk later.”
“I’ll let you off this time! I’m starving!” Luna released Isabella, pulling her towards the food.
Isabella’s grin remained fixed as George, seated beside her, watched Luna. Leaning closer, he whispered, “I can’t believe your best friend is the famous director, Luna White!”
Luna White was a dream girl for many men. Though not an actress, her popularity rivaled A-list stars. Renowned for her blockbuster hits, her stunning looks and figure were the envy of many.
Isabella smiled, but before she could respond, Luna tilted her head, playfully trailing a finger down George’s cheek. “Now you know, right? Utterly charmed?”
George, nearly choking on his drink, gave a thumbs-up. “Impressive!”
Isabella’s smile widened. George, usually full of swagger, had finally met his match.
Luna burst out laughing. Then, turning serious, she said to Isabella, “Bella, I’m gearing up to shoot a big historical drama. How about becoming my leading lady?” Luna thought, This face is way too perfect for the entertainment industry, and we’ve spent plenty of time together. I absolutely love her acting skills!
Isabella raised an eyebrow. “How could I possibly do it?”
Luna’s films were successful not only because of her script choices but also because of the stunningly talented cast. Ordinary people didn’t even get minor roles.
Luna’s excitement bubbled over. “Why can’t you? I’ve asked you a hundred times! Your looks and acting skills could shine brighter than anyone else! I promise I can make you the biggest star!”
Isabella was speechless.
Luna leaned closer, playfully raising her eyebrows. “So, what do you say? Want to team up?”
The thought of Isabella winning awards filled Luna with excitement.
Isabella pushed Luna’s face away, a bit annoyed. “You can take your enthusiasm elsewhere.”
Luna’s smile fell, replaced by disappointment. She sighed dramatically. “Ugh, what a shame.”
George, leaning in, tossed his hair back. “If she won’t do it, what about me? My ridiculously handsome face will launch your career to new heights. How about it, Director White?” He winked.
Luna’s smile vanished. “You look too much like a teenager to be my leading man. Besides, teenagers don’t flirt like you.”
George’s face darkened. “Why can’t you see how good-looking I am?”
He started rolling up his sleeves. “No one can stop me!” But no one moved. They stared at him. George glared at Isabella. “Aren’t you going to do something?”
