Chapter 104
“Ms. Jones, let’s head back to the hotel,” Otis said. He had already booked the entire Caesar Hotel to avoid disturbing Laura’s rest.
“Okay,” Laura nodded. “By the way, Otis, there’s a woman named Dakota Jennings. Please have her personal information sent to my room later.” She had seen Cameron arrive with Jennings at the airport earlier and wanted to know more about her and her relationship with Cameron.
“Yes, Ms. Jones.”
They left in the Rolls-Royce Ghost.
Lena watched their grand departure, surprised. Why would the prestigious Laura Jones take such a significant risk to come to Yrando? She shrugged off the question, focusing on her tasks. Remembering Cameron’s earlier words, she shifted her gaze to the unconscious man on the ground and lifted his right arm. Her gaze trembled. She discovered a tiny needle hole, almost invisible to the naked eye, under his armpit. Coupled with the man’s strange behavior and Cameron’s words, could he have actually helped her?
Even Lena inhaled sharply. If Cameron could injure the opponent with a flying needle without her noticing, his strength must far surpass hers! Could his claim about going to the mountaintop to deal with the sniper be true? Was that man really one of the world’s top five experts? No, it was impossible! A silver needle wasn't sufficient proof; it only showed skill with flying needles. He was so young, probably only 26 or 27. How could he be among the world's top one hundred, let alone the top five? Even with her talent, Lena wouldn't reach that level for a couple of years.
Despite her denial, her heart wouldn’t calm down.
At that moment, her team arrived in a pickup truck. More than a dozen men in camouflage uniforms saluted. “Colonel Bailey!”
“At ease,” Lena nodded. “I’ll leave this to you. This man is alive; take him to the interrogation room. I’ll personally interrogate him later.”
“Yes, Colonel Bailey!”
The team sprang into action. Lena’s gaze drifted toward the nearby mountaintop. Taking a deep breath, she headed there to assess the situation.
The mountaintop was dense with trees. Lena pushed through the undergrowth, searching for the mercenaries’ bodies. According to Cameron, he’d killed them in that area. Finding nothing, she was about to conclude he’d been bragging when she stepped on something hard—a Barrett sniper rifle.
Her eyes sharpened. Following intermittent bloodstains, she found a mercenary’s corpse in a thicket. His chest was grotesquely collapsed. Her gaze trembled violently; she’d never seen such a gruesome sight. Did Cameron really do this?
